Forums - Sony Discussion - next ps3 price cut?

Ps3 is still selling for 250$ which is the same price as the wii u I think or at most 50$ cheaper.  And it's $100 cheaper than the xbox one. I know sony are probably enjoying selling it at a profit for the last few years but that profit must be pretty big by now with lots of room for a cut. First week of 2015 it's still the #1 console for weekly software so there is life in the old dog yet.

Plenty of games still to release on it and it even outsold the Wii U in Japan this week according to media create and Famitsu.

So I ask you a simple question.  When do you think it will get a price cut and how big do you think it will be?

My guess is spring this year or at e3 and the cut will be to 199.

In my local store, the base Wii U goes for €199, so the PS3 is more expensive

Isn't that the 8GB version?
Generally, the 32GB version seems to be priced at around €1300 in Europe.

8GB with 2 games. The 32GB version is 299€ now, sometimes 269€

OP the Wii U sells for $299.99, and that's for the 32GB model.

We'll see price cuts by Summer/end of 2015.

Wii U + PS4

Consoles>Mobile

I think never

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

PS3 sells for $200, sometimes $180 at its cheapest. I suggest Sony sell new Super Slim 12GB models for $150

They have a 199.99 PS3. I also don't think Sony's making much money off the PS3.

People are still buying PS3 at a pretty impressive clip, and Sony's lost so much on the PS3 at launch, that what they're making back now is chump change, so don't expect a price cut anytime soon. Plus I imagine PS3 are still expensive to produce because of the Cell.

If you want one, you should probably just save up for a 500GB bundle. That's the best value and any price cut this year would seriously shock me because of all the factors I mentioned.

Were talking about regular models and the official price.

I already have a working ps3 but I'm going to buy another when it gets cheaper. I've an old fat one and it probably won't last forever.  So I want to get a new slim one that is built to last much longer.
