Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo WiiU Revision? Peripheral? Xenoblade report mentions "further improvement"

This just sounds like a normal install of the game on the internal storage which will make it load faster. So another last gen technology finally reaching the Wii U.

In last gen, you mean like PC has always been doing???

Yes, kind of. But you can't take a jab at Nintendo when you say it like that.

It's about cutting costs. to "legally" play bluray movies (in some countries ) you must pay licence fee for evry device to blu ray consortium.

poor nintendo, what a bad idea the WiiU was. I mean, I think it is a adorable console, but, as a bussiness decision...

Trolling?, we are talking about a game  that is  real next gen exclusive to the WiiU... about a periphearl or something that is going to be an improvement to the console itself... and you came from nowhere with "poor nintendo... bla bla bla" damn some people just never change.

Sounded like trolling? No, I wasn´t. I was just thinking how much the WiiU costs Nintendo, since they had to cut corners in such a thing, the bluray drive. I do´t like trolling, I don´t do it.

Indeed X is awesome, I will buy it, God willing. Sorry if sounded like trolling, I was just thinking about the bluray thing.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Here's another translation.

T: Yes. Movement across the field(s) is perfectly seamless, however, it does load during cutscenes. For those concerned with disc loading, I recommend playing the digital version. Of course, we’ve tuned it to reduce load times from the disc as much as possible, and are discussing being able to read the data straight from the system with Nintendo[I think he’s talking about those data install things, like the PS360 and PSP and stuff had].(はい。

How much different these quotes are.  I really wish we had a resident Japanese translator on board here at VGC.  Maybe we do but he or she is too busy with more pressing matters.  I really don't understand, though, with all the internet caring about this kind of stuff why a decent and reliable translation wouldn't be more common.

No idea, maybe you can install the game on an external hard drive and it streams from both the Disk and the HDD to improve the loading times.

I think you can already download games to an external HDD and stream them from the Wii U, but this is probably the most likely thing they are going to do. Either package an official Nintendo HDD add-on or release a revised Wii U 'Deluxe' which has more storage space. Other than that, I can't really see anything being a solution to limited disk/HDD space... unless Nintendo plans on launching a cloud gaming service... heres hoping that never happens.

Lol Just like in the old days of the Xbox 360. Having multiple disks for a game.

My old days of "multiple disks for a game" are PS1 & FF VII

Yeah, Definitely PS1. I think Arc the Lad Collection has like 7 discs or something silly like that. I never understood why game designers decided to limit themselves to one disc anyway. If the game needs more than one, whats the issue? Cost can't go up much more than 50cents a unit to produce and package the game with two disc's instead of one. Maybe it has to do with shipping cost or something.

Probably a portable harddrive bundle. Surprised Nintendo haven't gone down that road yet and created an official, afforadable harddrive for the Wii U. It's time.

Affordable being the key word and I can't really see them putting one out that is the same value( or better than) what you can find an external drive on sale for.  I actually really liked that they didn't make you use an "official" drive to increase storage.  MS did that  with the 360 (I think) and it was something like $120 USD for a 320 Gig drive which was a ridiculous price.

Not that you likely care but I spent about $170 bucks for a dual enclosure (with fan) and two 2 Terabyte drives for my Wii U.  I can't see myself ever using that much but then again that's what I though about the 200 Gig drive I bought this set up to replace.

Here's an affordable hard drive solution Nintendo could release: Charge the same or a little more for it...Let's say $100 for 2 TB...and have it pre-loaded with a Nostalgia Package. You get Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Duck Hunt, Punchout, and Kid Icarus already on the system (or some other configuration) give it an NES paintjob and people will pay whatever Nintendo asks. Even better, include Nes Remix 1 and 2. Sure there's definietly going to be some revenue lost...but not as much as when people don't buy stuff because they used up thier 32 gigs in the first 6 months and don't want to bother moving stuff off their system.

Nintendo doesn't leverage their brand appeal enough. Isn't the Gamecube adaptor enough of an indicator that people love buying stuff that's officially licensed by Nintendo?

I believe they were talking about the actual game, making it smaller and more compact, and Nintendo helped.

I don't think so...according to the translation the developer stated that it was an option that we could take advantage of.  I think it is,as many people here have stated here, that you will be able to load physical games to the harddrive.
