Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo WiiU Revision? Peripheral? Xenoblade report mentions "further improvement"

I'm pretty confident it's just installing part/all of the game onto the HDD in order to improve the load times.

And even then, in the interview, Takahashi said that the game world really IS seamless. You can run from one end of the map to the other with NO loading. He said the cutscenes are what will cause some load times.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

double layered disc?

I'm going to guess it's some kind of Ready-boost feature for SD cards to increase the available memory.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

50GB, in fact

Are they confirmed as dual layer? I'd only ever read they were 25GB capacity.

Is a standard Blu-Ray drive. So I don't think we need confirmation

I with most everyone else, part of the disc heavily compressed with the option of decompressing that part to the hard drive and loading info from both disc and drive

It's just an install. Don't effect me since I download all my games.

Sounds like they're hinting at hard drive streaming, but as far as I know, no Wii U game has done this so far, to the point where I wasn't even sure it was possible.

Isn't that what Rockstar did with GTA V on X360? Reading data from disc and HDD simultaneously. I'd guess that if the Xbox360 could do it, Wii U can do it too (just a wild guess though). I think this is the first Wii U game to almost fill the whole disc, so that's probably the reason why it was never done before, assuming that it is possible.
