Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo WiiU Revision? Peripheral? Xenoblade report mentions "further improvement"

As always, my apologies if this has already been posted.

You guys here at VGC seem to be like some sort of hyper-intelligent (and hyper-sexual, mind you) hive mind that can sleuth out clues from tiny phrases.  Here's one to send up to your Queen Bee.

From MyNintendoNews.com

"[Kawabata] Xenoblade Chronicles X is using up most of the space on the Wii U disk. It’s really, really close to the storage limit. (To the point that at one stage we were considering using more than one disk for the game). To enjoy playing, the enormous seamless map must load quickly (which was achieved through the hard work of our programming division), but we had help from Nintendo proper implementing a further improvement to what we had. I believe we’re going to reveal the details of that on the official page in the future, but to people considering purchasing the packaged version of the game, as one of the game’s developers, I highly recommend you make use of this improvement."

The interesting thing about this quote is that it references this "improvement" as only being available for physical copies of the game.  My title may be misleading...and isn't intended to be a click generator.  I'll happily change it to something a lot less grandiose if something is provided in this thread that suggests there's no possibility.

So what do you guys think?  What improvement has been or is being made to the WiiU to better run this obviously large, amazing game.  And why would we have to make use of it...if it isn't an optional purchase.  Or is he maybe just suggesting that it is only possible through a disk based system.  Anyway...please...enlighten me...enlighten us, oh VGC Hive Mind.  Make honey.

Lol Just like in the old days of the Xbox 360. Having multiple disks for a game.

No...not multiple disks.  That was where they thought they had to go...until they made an improvement, and then Nintendo made a "further improvement."

No idea, maybe you can install the game on an external hard drive and it streams from both the Disk and the HDD to improve the loading times.

I think it means that you can install the game to get better loading time.

I think is just another system update

Well, I certainly don't think its that cause the wiiU's bluray discs can hold 25gbs at least and the wiiU's default storage is ~28gb so I don't think its that

OT: Hmm, interesting! I wonder what it could be, if its avaliable to the physical versions only, then maybe a better compression method or something

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

maybe the physical game comes with a storage solution like an HDD to install the game there and not play from a disc because we all know HDD's reading speed's are superior to laser and DD speed's of reading...

34 years playing games.

Well, Wii U's bluray disc drive is pretty fast already. Wonder if Nintendo improved that even further in the wake of Xenoblade's coming.

Wow, and those Wii U Optical Disks hold 25GB's of storage...
