Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does Nintendo have enough games to support a console for mroe than 5 years even if it sells great like the Wii?

Enough to sell software, but not to keep hardware shifting.

So no.

In my opinion the next Nintendo home console will be released 2015 or early 2016.

2015? What? The Wii U only having a life cycle of 3 years? Do you seriously believe Nintendo would do that?

Having a console with less than 5 or 6 years of lifespam is a deathsentence for any hardware bussiness.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

No they don't have enough games to last 5 years, that's why I imagine they are probably making some more.

Agreed. I can only think of one exception, and that is the Virtual Boy. But it did almost destroy Nintendo.

If any company supports their console to the bitter end, it's Nintendo.

They have SOO many old IP's they can do stuff with. If Nintendo would do it's out-scourcing more, it could basically compete with the entire industry.

They easily have enough games to support it. There are still so many IPs they haven't done anything with on the Wii U, and that's not even counting new things we'll be getting.

If you're talking a Fusion platform where all their teams can effectively work on one platform, then yes.

If you're talking the current setup of a separate handheld and home console -- then no.

Honestly I don't think they even have enough for more than 4 years of solid support. Both the GameCube and Wii fizzled out in terms of software support after year 4.
