PS Vita YouTube App No Longer Supported

The YouTube application for PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) will no longer be supported after 20 April 2015, and the application will cease to be available for download from PlayStation®Store on 28 January, 2015.

Users can continue to enjoy YouTube via the "Browser" application, and will be able to access their YouTube data, such as playlists and channels, by signing in to the same Google account via the "Browser" app and on other devices. (http://m.youtube.com)

After western game publishers started to distance themselves from the struggling handheld, this seems as a big loss, and another indicator that Vita is losing its battle with mobiles. Of course, there are still games coming, but even there we can see more developers shifting to PS4.

My question for Vita owners is: Did you use YouTube on Vita, and how will this affect your future usage of the handheld?

In the time I owned one, I don't remember using it at all, maybe once or twice in six months. If I needed something there, I would just put my Vita down and used my phone (a habit, I guess...)

So this news was updated 46 years ago?

Wow, did not expect that.
Will we still be able to use it?

How on earth does one lose youtube support? Too bad though, poor vita owners! (Luckly, for me, I didn't even know there was an youtube app since I use compy-chan for that)

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

That's messed up...I no longer have my Vita but when I did I used youtube alot on the device.

Never used it myself. Funny that it's losing support

Why would Google stop supporting the app? It doesn't seem to be really expensive to mantain.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Whats a Vita?? A google search showed it meant life... life is always one step closer to death every second of its existence =P

hm, those who call a Vita their own will continue to support it, as I do!
I have become a casual gamer, because I do not have much time to play "big" games, but I have now PS VITA and PS TV, so I can play and continue games on both devices.

YouTube... well, like you, I rarely used it, and this will not be a big loss in my opinion!
We have the "Live from PlayStation" App that I used often to watch other players.

So for me, not a big loss, but a loss anyway

This is just a guess, because I have no technical or software knowledge, but Google has announced that they are dropping Adobe Flash from YouTube, and will start utilizing HTML5 exclusively.

Maybe they just didn't want to bother spending time updating the app to the new system.
