So basically Microsoft are ending any chance of a Halo returning to it's once dominant presence on YouTube. This is nowhere near Nintendo's stance but as keemstar says they realized how important YouTube is for minecraft so they made an exception for that. The rules are not too over the top but not being able to write the games name in the title is just plain stupid. It's going to turn off a shit load of YouTubers. With Microsoft in a distant second place you'd think they'd be doing everything in their power to turn things around. If this backfires come Halo 5 release will they do a 180 on this?

Do you think they are doing this due to losing money on sales because of lets plays?

Can't you tag stuff on Youtube?

Also stuff isn't being removed at this point if it has Halo in the name. So this guy is bitching just to bitch

Pretty sure they said you can pit the name in the title. They just don't want the title to make it seem like its a ms video instead of a player created video

They deserve to make money off their own games - If people use music in their own video - they pay royalties - So why shouldnt MS get money for the games they sweat to make?

They're not stopping people from putting the game's name in the title.

In addition, your Items may not use the name of the Microsoft Game in their title to give the impression that Microsoft is the source of the Item, or authorized or endorsed the Item. Items that make referential use of our titles are fine, for example, “Let’s Play Forza Motorsport 5” or “Tips and Strategies for Halo 5.” Using the Game title to tag your Item on social media is fine. We also don’t object to “Red vs. Blue” or “Operation Chastity”. But we may object to “Halo: Covenant Strike,” for example, if it could be confused as something Microsoft produced or licensed, or if it could be mistaken as an official part of the Game. We just want to make sure consumers don’t get confused.

I mean, it's still stupid, but nowhere near as big a deal as being unable to use their names.

because if people don't play their games they get less sales. MINECRAFT has sold a shit ton because of youtube. ame with cod, gta, the last of us and many many more.

Same goes for Nintendo and thier nonsense.

I can't tell you the number of times I've seen someone Let's Playing a game and it's made me want to go out and buy it.  What these companies are doing makes no sense to me;  when has a gamer ever said "that game looks cool.  I'd really like to watch someone else play that game"?

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

I am guilty of not buying beyond 2 souls because I was satisfied with the complete story watched on youtube. QD never made a penny off me. Why should I enjoy content for free that cost QD millions to make? Why should gamer_letsplayxXx make money off a game he is playing and recording?

It's perfectly reasonable when a company wants to make money off their property from people who don't play their games, but still benefit from the content. hundred of thousands watch WD telltale and probably dont buy it after because the story is complete.

Well it does depend on the game, and your img dont work btw.

But I confess to not buying b2s because I watched it on youtube. A random youtuber made money instead of quantic dream.

I'd much rather the money goes to those 40 men who sit at computers for 2 years sweating on perfecting a game, than some youtuber who plays it, records and uploads.

If it's a LP, microsoft deserves ALL the money. So splitting it is quite nice of them tbh.
If it's a review/preview with gameplay clips, i'm sure the company would be lenient, because it is then just like a trailer for a movie.
