I agree with the OP. Sometimes I agree with her, sometimes I don't, but she does get way too much hate, probably because she sometimes makes a good point.

People dislike her because she cherry picks, manipulates and out right lies in order to make her arguments "stronger".

It's a shame really, because the basis of her argument is sound, and one worth discussing. It's her apparent inability to present it as the reality rather than an extreme that creates the hostile attitude many people have towards her, and pushes away many people who could sympathize with the core issue.

That all said, there's no excuse for some of the things people say to her, even if i think she knowingly overplays the actual substance of most of them (though that doesn't justify people doing it; you're responsible for your own words, especially when they're being present in an environment that allows close pre-examination). I don't personally like her much either (cherry picking is an effective way to stop me caring about your opinion, since apparently you don't care about it enough yourself to be honest), but i think it's best to just ignore her.

What I find interesting is the people who cry 'censorship!' whenever someone criticizes the industry when it comes to their portrayal of certain groups, but when developers make statements about how publishers attempted to get them to change their main character from female to male to appeal to a male audience (Remember Me, Life is Strange) or removing them from the boxart because it's less attractive to said audience (Last of Us, and Bioshock Infinite, which did remove Elizabeth), few of these people are around to denounce THAT sort of censorship or wonder how much of it actually succeeds behind the scenes. Suddenly the argument twists to "Well, of course they're going to try to appeal to a larger audience, they have to make money".

Now, I think Anita is pretty rubbish, but the issue she brings up is a real one. Acting like she's single-handedly ruining the industry is pretty laughable, though, and the disgusting amount of hate and threats she receives are pathetic and not justifiable in the least.

Makes sense. There is absolutely no reason to fear this girl even if she disagrees with gaming at large. if People weren't so rabid the major media outlets would never have had to become involved. People take zero responsibility for why the media has publicized this to the media and allows them to twist the truth, being that they mostly don't understand gaming.

Can someone enlighten me and actually list any good points she has made? Please provide links, where possible.

While I agree with the most important issues of sex equality and equal opportunities, I'm totally allergic to political correctness, particularly when it make people dictionary nazis. Fighting against blatant sexual hate is fine, but a crusade against far less harmful tropes is asinine, anyhow, as long as she doesn't try to limit freedom of expression, it's still fine, but the only acceptable way to mspread more gender neutral game is to make them better than the others. BTW, most male gamers have nothing against strong female game characters, but most of them consider such girls sex symbols anyway, and probably more than weaker female characters.
