Forums - Gaming Discussion - Done With Final Fantasy

I'm in the same boat. I LOVED FFX, FFX-2 was good too. FF12 -- was ok, but I didn't complete it. I didn't want to, it got.... boring. Not a fan of the MMO style gameplay, the turn based system in FFX was perfect. I want a FF game that goes back to that.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Final Fantasy X had the best turn-based system, in my opinion. I liked the Sphere Grid. I, also, am not a fan of Final Fantasy XII's MMO style of gameplay. Final Fantasy VIII was, by far, my favorite Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX were fantastic, and I loved Final Fantasy Tactics (the orginal one, not Advanced).

That's cool. When I give up on something I ignore threads about that something.

4 ≈ One

For me it is Sakaguchi and Nobuo, they are masters in telling a story and making suitable songs for it. When I hear hear the songs of Final Fantasy IX I always get goosebumps especially if I remember the part in the game where the songs take place..... Final Fantasy XIII was empty for me, I did not care about the characters, the music did not pump me up like the older games did. Lost odyssey with Sakaguchi and Nobuo made me very happy because they worked again together and damned that game did everything what I enjoyed about the older FF games.

Most people who buy Final Fantasy today are people do it for nostalgic reasons and hope to feel that magic and quality again from the older FF games......

While I agree with a lot you've said I'd say don't give up just yet. FFXV doesn't look like a traditional Final Fantasy, but it does have some promising features. It probably won't live up to the best games in the series, but it can still be a good game worth playing without doing that. Give it a chance at least.

You still have to go by the philosphy of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me a bunch of times well fuck it! That is why I think as of right now I have zero hype for this, and most likely will pick this up eventually, but seriously all final fantasy fans who are buying into the hype.... you are doing it again.

Well I do consider 13 to be a big improvement on 12, so at least there are signs they are getting better again...

13 continued my problem with Final Fantasy personally. Number one reason I been driwfting away from Final Fantasy games is characters or more so the leading character. 15 doesn't seemt to change my dislike of leading characters, but hopefully the rest of the cast will be good...maybe...I honestly have no idea.

I always never understood what people meant about this, as I'd never played MMOs at all (until very recently) so the MMO style gameplay as far as I'm concerned didn't exist. Also, I'm not sure what MMOs you played but how many allow you to take 3 team members with you?

You know what game the little party thing reminded me of? X-men Legends. Great game. Probably the reason I like Dragon Age too.

Hmm, pie.

I grew up learning, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Sakaguchi had nothing to do with FFVIII and FFX stories. He was just producer on those games. The last FF game he directed was V actually, so I wouldn't say the "magic" or "essence" (whatever those are) came from Sakaguchi.

I do miss Uematsu though, even though I think XII and XIII soundtracks are amazing.

It's funny you made this thread when your favorite is VIII, considering it was the most different at the time and alienated a sizeable portion of FF fans who were introduced to the franchise with VII or were fans of the "classic" titles that came before. I guess different works then.
