Movie was really good despite being what could be considered the biggest movie fuck-up in 2014 in the fake baby. I find it interesting to see all the debate sparked about it, one of the interesting things I found about the movie is that it showcased soldiers who, while still doing their jobs, questioned the war in Iraq which is a bit comforting to see because the Iraq War was very black and white during this time to so many. It's our modern day Vietnam and Chris Kyle has certainly become the poster boy of that in so many ways. I wish the movie pressed on the issue of Kyle bringing someone suffering from PTSD to a gun range being his downfall because it's an important lesson to learn from.
As for the movie, it was really good, despite several flaws. I'm a little surprised to see it so well, not because of the subject matter, but because films don't typically do that great this time of the year. It's a pretty rare thing, but I think the combination of being an Oscar nominated film and having big names like Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood helped it along.
