So, I am loving Resident Evil Remake HD on Xbox One.

But, after playing RE 6,5, 4 and Revelations, I realize that Capcom changed totally what RE was from the beginning in RE4 foward, and, that is not really a good thing.

RE HD is faithful to what RE once was: A adventure game, very cerebral, where inventory and map management are part of the fun and the chalenge.

Where guns are a tool, but not a garantee.

Where the thrills come not from action pieces, but from despair.

A game about getting a object, examining it and finding where it fits.

A unique experience that degraded into anothe Pew! Pew! Pew! juvenile shooter like so many out there.

Oh, what is really sad is: We will never, EVER, have a new REAL Resident Evil, there is just not a market for such a game anymore.

All we will have are farses, disgusting TPS charades named Resident Evil, but could very well be called Gears of War.

RE HD is a great game, but it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, a taste of something that is gone, and will never be again...

Addendum:

RE´s adventure aspect  was awesome, made RE a game that made you think, you had to manage the very itens you could carry, make important choices, made you think:

Do I take a extra Herb or the Key?

Am I going to pass near that tiger statue?

Should I take a Ink Ribbon or go for broke?

There, two zombies, fight or flight?

How many pieces of that crest do I already have?

There was a room with a item on the second floor, but I had no place in the inventory, time to go back?

These made the game imersive to me, like my little choices really mattered, in a actually unique way,

RE5 and RE6 were just cheap shots, just Michael Baystic steps into something else.

Altought I still praise RE5 visuals and art direction, I really miss games like RE HD, Adventure-horror-survival hybrids, so unique.

Never again, there is just no market anymore.

It is just depressing to realize this...

Im happy someone else sees 4 for what it is.

At least Revelations is more similar to RE 1 than to Re5 or 6.

But is kinda sad see how a remastered remake of the first one is still so much better than every RE since 4.

There's a reason RE4 was originally a Devil May Cry game. It went on to spawn more Evil May Cry's with 4 being the only acceptable one. At least there's Revelations?

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

I enjoyed RE5 and RE6 for what they were. I wish we could reverse time and see the franchise continue to grow but stick to its horror roots. It's harder and harder to scare people but games like PT, which was genuinely scary and unnerving, give me hope.

True. Have you never played any older RE games before?

Unfortunately it is what it is now. It is far less of a puzzle/adventure/horror game and more of an action sequence game now. It's not necessarily bad, just different.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I like shooters of all kinds. Resident evil 4 is a masterpiece that aged really well.

I love RE4. It changed the RE formula but still felt true to its horror roots - I still wouldn't call it a shooter.

5 and 6 aren't so great, though, and I definitely agree with OP on those.

It will be interesting to see how the new Silent Hill turns out. Part of what made P.T. so damn creepy was the lack of context. There was no narrative, no central characters, no pre-stated goal, nothing. Even the gameplay was very bare-boned. It will be difficult for them to maintain P.T.'s level of horror while also trying to deliver on all those traditional fronts.

Oh, I had a PSOne when I was a teenager, so I player RE2 (with two CDs) first, almost got insane with happyness!  =D

Then the first one in the Directors Cut version, with rumble support.

And RE3, which was very cool also.

Then I played, and finished RE Gun Survivor, which was not perfect, but it was not as bad as people say.

Many years after I played Code Veronica X, which was great, on PS2.

Then the game that changed everything, RE4...

Actually, I have played them all but the mobile cell phone games.
