If it is marketed correctly it could sell a lot of systems. I know if I had not bought a Wii U by now Splatoon would have been the game to make me get one.

Yes, is just you. Game looks awesome and is from Nintendo, when that happens...  is good. You can rely on Nintendo even if you don´t want to.

In the long run yes. Unless coincided with a price cut, I don't expect a big boost on its launch week, but overall it will help boost the Wii U's baseline if it reviews well. Plenty of core Nintendo fans still waiting for ENOUGH reason to buy a Wii U.

Splatoon alone won't sell systems but a price cut + Splatoon + the existing library could do well

Highly doubt it as it's a new ip and those tend to not move consoles without a bunch of advertising. I don't see it selling that well at all either sadly but I will be picking it up day 1 regardless.
