So I was wandering around in Wal-Mart picking up some milk for my son and went to look at the gaming section to see if they have stocked up after the holidays, and they still haven't. So I asked an employee when will they get more games in for the WiiU, sold out were SSBU, DKC:TF, Pikmin, and Bayo 2.

So we get to talking games and he said "he bought XOne and was disappointed in the game selection and had buyers remorse" and said "he should got the WiiU first". So I told him "I have one and the games have been amazing and fun to play, way better than the Wii". ThenTold him some games that were coming out and mentioned the game Splatoon. He has not heard of Splatoon yet so I show him the E3 trailer and the guy look really excited about the game and said "damn I really want Wii U now". Also said I might have my girl buy it because she said she would a couple of weeks ago.

So after see this dudes excitement with the game I think this game can boost sales like MK8 did (same month of release). What do you guys think?

It could be a system seller if people know about it. AKA, Nintendo needs to get their shit together when it comes to marketing.

Splatoon will be a system seller, I expect a major boost, it wont be in the same vein as MK8 unless it has a bundle but it should be pretty significant. There are 3 games that will provide major boosts to the Wii U this year. Zelda, Splatoon and Xenoblade. They all shoot for different demographics and should do well to pull them in. I think a lot of people are underestimating what these 3 games can do.

I doubt it. I feel like people throw around the term system seller too often. So far the only true system seller we've seen for the Wii U has been MK8. Even SSB didn't boost the Wii U as some had thought it would.

It has that potential

No. The average consumer has no idea it exist and much like most games on the Wii U it wont get advertised enough to garner enough attention to be a system seller.

           Survivor Millennial vs Gen X!!

Nope. I'm not even expecting it to sell too well but that will mainly be due to Nintendo's lack of advertising.

Since it's a new IP and all I don't see boosting sales THAT much, but still, we may see a noticeable boost hopefully.

Anyway, I think the most important thing Splatoon has to do is getting really good reviews and achieve strong sales even if it's not a system seller. This way it can strengthen Nintendo's image a bit since people's been saying that they only live out of Mario, Pokemon and Zelda for a long time. A new strong IP is what Nintendo needs. The only thing that worries me is Splatoon not having an easily recognizable mascot, which is crucial to promote the game more easily.
