Beat me to it...

OT: If you ask me... I think it will roughly be like that Virtual Reality Cafe in the movie Minority Report. The owner of the Cafe offers Tom Cruise if he wants to kill his boss. So no I don't think so. As a matter of fact it might lead to the opposite. Millions upon millions would want to fulfill their guilty pleasures of murder without the penality of capital punishment. Also, why play COD or DESTINY on a T.V. when you can FEEL the ACTION right in front of you?

A revolution of what kind? If I understand you correctly you're wondering if the people that do mass shootings and the like will instead opt to play virtual reality?

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

I hope it marks a return of creativity and childlike wonder. Would you believe me if I told you there was a time when gamers WANTED to play as Sonic the Hedgehog or a number of other fantastical creatures in fantasy worlds? Sit on my lap and let me tell you a tale...

I see your point.. "Real war" would be to much for some of the people playing Cod now.

Mayby there will be some kind of "3ds slider".. to turn up and down realisme

When it comes to killing everything alse than humans.. Aliens, zombies..  and other.. people still just wanna have better

A main objective in traditional games with TVs and buttons is to overcome/eliminate obstacles, alive or not, that's why we have zombies, mushrooms and space Natzis. VR could be a whole new gaming medium which opens more levels of interactivity that could see a surge of a new type of games that take advantage of that. But still, there are a lot of horror games being developed for them.

the realistic graphics and desensitization to violice thing is a different subject. 8-bit cartoony blood drops caused an uproar back in the day. It's just context, but artistic design has come a long way and still can improve. But I can't see something more gruesome that can't be done today with upping the pixels, AA and lighting.

There is no connection between violence in video games and violence in the real world. Humans have been violent to various degrees since the dawn of man. It's a part of our nature. They would be better off researching how violent people are in relation to over crowding.

Ever since the Atari, through the NES, into the Genesis, onto the PlayStation, and now on XBOX's everywhere, there have been offensive games. CoD, GTA, Battlefield, and pretty much anything with any form of shooting or blood are notorious for their offensive influences. Parents, anti-game protestors, and radically religious people cannot stand violence in video games and believe that it leads to terrible events like school shootings, terroristic attacks, and overall violent acts, but the gamers care less. The question here is, if Virtual Reality becomes a mainstream thing, could seeing these acts of violence up close possibly start a revolution among gamers? I mean, there's a distinct difference between looking at your television from 20ft away and actually killing an animated figure in true first person. Also, graphics will improve and become more realistic, so either people will become super desensitized or probably not care.

I doubt that parents, anti-game protestors and radically religious people will be a target audience for VR gaming.

Also, I don't think VR gaming will ever become mainstream enough to command a trend.

Nah. If anything, it will make people more into violence. People love the shock value. It's like going to see a horror movie in theaters.

Horror thrills should sell.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

We will see a lot of violent horror games for VR. Games that are more immersive will also be more controversial

Don't copy random editorials.

I just want a Sword Art Online style VR game. Someone make that happen.

OnT: Violence won't go away in VR games. It is too much a mainstay in all forms of entertainment to be removed.
