Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is it possible to only buy new ip's through out the year?

I was thinking about only getting new ip's through out this year, with a few exceptions. I only seem to get 4-5 games every year these days. I simply don't have the time to get everything that comes out. I just think it would be a fun experiment to do,although there would be a couple expections for me personally. I'm getting the new metal gear solid game,no matter what. I passed on the AC and farcry game last year. I'm also getting tired of getting cod every year. I love the cod games, but sometimes enough is enough. This thread is just basically me thinking outloud,so thoughts?

For me no. When i look at the new IP coming out this year i am left unimpressed.

As s big fan of these kinds of experiments, I fully support you!

Sure, if that's what you want. You might miss out on some good games though.

Its possible, but I see no reason to. You would miss out on a lot of great games. With the exception of Nintendo franchises and collections, I tend to really only buy one game from a series anyways

Last year was easier, driveclub, watchdogs, destiny, heartstone, sunset overdrive, the evil within, murdered soul suspect, shovelknigth, the crew, valiant hearts, child of ligth, all trougth the year, and i'm excluding licensed properties like alien and shadows of mordor.

This year we would have, the order, the division, bloodborne, splatoon and quantum break, maybe overwatch and ori and the blind forest.

Last year activision and ubisoft where really upfront about new ip, but ubisoft alreadly said that they are slowing down and activision is more focused on supporting destiny, altough overwatch is arguabily from them. The focus from sony and microsoft this year are halo 5, uncharted 4 and the next tombraider and maybe the next street figther. even with splatoon, we now that this year nintendo will focus on zelda. Of course, there will be a lot of pleasent surprises this year, like mordor was, but for now, it isn't looking hotter than last year in term of new IP.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Already did that last year, only game I bought was Transistor.

I'm now filled with determination.

There's a lot to buy in 2015 if you haven't already got the new IPs from 2014 (Driveclub, Resogun, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Knack, The Evil Within, The Crew, etc.) and an overwhelming number if you include all of the new indie IPs in 2015.

No matter what, there are quite a few new IPs slated for release in 2015 so it should be possible. Additionally new IPs will be announced and released throughout the year.

2015:
Alienation
Battleborn
Bloodborne
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Deep Down
Drawn to Death
Dying Light
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Evolve
Grow Home
Hell Divers
Hellblade
Kill Strain
Let It Die
Life is Strange
Mad Max
No Man's Sky
Ori and the Blind Forest
Overwatch
Project CARS
Quantum Break
Raven's Cry
Ride
Rime
Scalebound
Splatoon
The Division
The Order: 1886
The Tomorrow Children
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
The Witness
Until Dawn
What Remains of Edith Finch
Wild
