Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just seen an Evolve TV advert!

Game is not out until February 10th but on Bt Sports before the Liverpool Bolton match the advert was played. A full minute in length and with the xbox intro before and after. This game seems to be getting a big push. It also had "winner of over 60 awards on it". That made me laugh because the reviews aren't even out yet.

Anyway this game might have bigger sales than some expect if the advertising keeps up for the next 3 weeks.

Can't believe I actually had a discussion with someone a couple weeks ago saying that the game would make its money back if it sold 1.5 million. Looks like they are aiming for something much bigger here.

Probably meant E3 awards. Lots of games do that these days (eg, Titanfall).

Probably meant it but I'd love to see all these different awards. The watchdog should ban things like that.

Why ban it? They are free to brag about their awards if they want. The awards may not mean anything, but they did still win them

Because it gives a false impression to the consumer.  They didnt win 60 awards for the final product which they are advertising. They won the awards for a few trailers of the game. It's misleading.

Not really. What's the problem with winning awards for that? If people aren't willing to check what the awards were for then that's their own fault.

Lmao.  You really expect everyone to go check them out. The onus is on the advertiser not the consumer.  If they want to say they won 60 awards for trailers shown then fair enough.

Why should the onus be on the advertiser?

When there are food adverts for a 'new improved recipe' they don't have to prove that it is actually an improvement. That is up to the people to determine themselves.

It's called false advertising.  Pretty simple.

You have to treat adverts and trailers just like politicians, take everything you hear or see with a grain a salt.

The advertising needs to work first though. So far the game has been performing modestly in online retailer charts. Even with an open beta, tv ads and a closer release date, The Order is doing much better in pre orders.

Oh I agree fully. I don't buy games based on their adverts. Your average consumer wont have the gaming knowledge in do. They're the people they're trying to fool.  If the reviews are good boast about them. But it's wrong claiming 60 awards for trailers you showed at an event when you won't even let your game get reviewed.

I agree that it is wrong of them to lie or mislead casuals just to get some sales but that doesn't really bother me so much because I'm not a part of the "being tricked" group. If a game hasn't been released yet then it has won any actual awards for the game. Honestly, I like the concept of the game and I hope that it's good. I'm all for the new IP's.
