Forums - Gaming Discussion - Favorite Thing About the Big 3 and what would you Improve? Games and Most Anticipated.

Microsoft

Pros: Microsoft has the best online in general (multiplayer and xbox live experience) and they have a good eye for acquiring new franchises from other companies.

Cons: They need to learn how to make competitive new IPs (the bread and butter of what it means to exist in the console realm)

Sony

Pros: The only company that takes risk all gen long in creating or themselves in the development of new IP's. They aren't afraid to hang up old characters and make new ones. They have the strongest in-house storybased gaming experience of all of the brands. The platinum trophies are a great cap to the achievement system. It makes me want to be a completionist.

Cons: Their online sucks compared to Microsoft and so does their marketing.

Nintendo

Pros: Arguably the best exclusives in the biz and the most affordable hardware to buy it on as well.

Cons: Not very open minded, which makes them bad with third party. They need to up their hardware game so third parties wont exclude them next gen.

Around the Network

Microsoft

The Good: Helped bring about the popularity of online gaming to consoles and has one of the best online services

Needs Improvement: They need to keep their exclusives exclusive rather than porting their games to PC later and need more first party IPs

Anticipated Games: Halo 5 (with some scepticism)

Sony

The Good: Well diversed library featuring first and third party titles, good marketing and good online

Needs Improvement: They need to support the Vita instead of throwing it to the curb

Anticipated Games: Uncharted 4, Bloodborne

Nintendo

The Good: Great first party titles, free online and they work well with what they have

Needs Improvement: Better third party support, specs that are on par or better than the competition and they need to market better.  Also, when it comes they need to get more accustomed to supply and demand with things like Amiibo and Gamecube adaptars

Anticipated Games: Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade X, Splatoon, Zelda U, Majora's Mask 3D

MS: They pushed online gaming to become more mainstream & got Sony to get their heads straight. However, they do lack first party titles that grab my interest.

Nintendo: Gotta love their exclusive titles. On the Wii I enjoyed Kirby's Epic Yarn, Super Paper Mario, Madworld, SMG2 & Pokemon on the 3DS. I think they should move away from the WiiMote/ UPad though, IMO terrible controllers.

Sony: Exclusives & hardware. I honestly don't have any complaints as I'm not a Vita guy & I loved the support at the end of the PS3's life.

Sony

Their third-party and indie support is the thing I like the most about them, including their openness with the developers on how the console needed to be built to satisfy their needs. Also, the trophies last gen were a nice addition.

I feel like they need to improve on their network stability and their software, like the XMB, for example.

Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank remake, No Man's Sky, The Order: 1886

Microsoft

The fanfare they put behind their game announcements is excellent.

One thing they need to improve on is their first party catalogue. One thing I really dislike from the company is Aaron Greenberg and I'd prefer if he could be more mature and less puerile on his remarks.

I'm not anticipating any game from them, but the only MS exclusive I'd love to play is Deadrising 3.

Nintendo

Well, they have kept their flagship franchises alive after two decades. That's a good thing.

They need to overhaul their online services to make them competitive. They also need to fix the lack of third party games.

Right now, I'm only interested in Mario Maker.

MS: I like that they always have a unified system and their OS is really nice to use. I wish they would work more on creating their own IPs so they can establish themselves rather than just moneyhatting everything.
Favorites: Uhhh. I'm just gonna go with Halo and Gears of War.
Most Anticipated: Scalebound and Quantum Break.

Sony: I love that they have so much diversity in their library and they always support their systems until the very end. I wish they weren't so cocky all the time because they still have so many things to fix like their online and their first party offerings (which have room to improve).
Favorites: Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank and TLOU.
Most Anticipated: Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne.

Nintendo: The fact that they always seem to put quality above everything else is why I support them so much. Their priority is making good games that people will enjoy. However, they need to get their shit together when it comes to marketing and fucking end region locking. Seriously.
Favorites: Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem and Metroid.
Most Anticipated: Splatoon, XCX and Zelda.

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Sony: Would love to see the company come out of financial trouble. Sony has been around for so long and it's hard to believe that it's on the brink of collapse.

MS: While I don't dislike Microsoft's game consoles, I've never owned one and have never seen a game from the company that would make me want to own one. Subsequently though, I'd never (again) buy a console for a single game. Microsoft doesn't need to change a thing in my opinion. In fact, trying to change is what knocked MS from the top in the first place.

Nintendo: Just focus on games and innovation and not tacked on gimmicks. Being gimmicky is what put Nintendo in its current predicament. Nintendo at one point could do no wrong in my eyes. Now i don't see a single thing that would make me ever want to own a Nintendo console.

Anticipated PS4 games: Dark Cloud 3!!! Yeah i know it's never been announced but as long as I keep dreaming the thought of its existence will never die.

No anticipated games for the other consoles.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

Nintendo:
Pro: Best exclusives.
Con: Gimmicky controllers.
Anticipating: Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda.

Sony:
Pro: Diverse game library.
Con: Vita.
Anticipating: Bloodborne, No Man's Sky.

Microsoft:
Pro: Perfected online gaming.
Con: Lack of exclusives.
Anticipating: None ATM.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Most of Microsofts "exclusives" that got ported to PC weren't even theirs. Fable is the only one they've voluneteered to PC by themselves this gen. Thats still quite a bit.
