Forums - Movies & TV - Anyone else see American Sniper? What did you think?

Movie trailer here in case the embedded doesn't work.

Just got back from watching it, and I thought it was really good. Cooper did a great job as did whoever played his wife, and the action was crazy, intense, and because it's based on a autobiography and the actual war events, sobering. I know it's seen by some as US propaganda, and to an extent I can see that. I wish it went more into the motives of the Iraqui/Iranian people as well as dived even more into Chris's PTSD, but it still was a great film that left a lot to think about for me.

Anyone else have any thoughts? It's been on the news a lot for its controversey as well as people's controversal opinions about its depiction and glorification of the Iraq war.

I have yet to see it, but it's definitely on my watchlist.

I've heard enough about the guy its about that Im not going to go out of my way to see it.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Love the director, hate the cast. A miss for me.

It was fairly moving, and I say forget the naysayers. The film doesn't glorify the Iraq War, and in fact does the opposite with its portrayal of the effect of war on a veteran and his family. There might've been some slight inaccuracies in tactics or logic but I don't think anyone intelligent left the theatre thinking that the movie tried to send a message of war being a good thing.

Actually became interested in seeing it a month back because Bradley Cooper; he's one of my fave actors.

I disagree. The film is about Kyle's experiences, and it's even based off of his own autobiography. Yes, the Iraq War was a terrible tragedy overall, especially for the Iraqi people, but this story simply isn't told from their perspective.

You must be a deep sleeper. It was a  really loud movie from gunshots and screaming
