Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Alex Strife, APEX Tourney Host, True Colours Revealed

So Apex is coming up and the host of the tournament, Alex Strife, is stepping down.  In the past while, Alex has been accused of sexual harassment, being a jerk to transgender  players mainly in the Smash community and other things that I'm not sure that I can list but should be in the video link above.

With these accusations came many people who spoke out about some of Alex's other actions such as transporting Japanese players in a Uhaul truck, harassing and threatening one of his employees and friend online as well as his girlfriend, blackmailing a Smash player named Zero to promote the tournament further and even cheated on his girlfriend.  Many other people have spoken out and most are seen in the link above and I'm still wondering how he got away with all of this for awhile.

Around the Network

I have a few things to say about all this, so here goes... If all of this is true, then I feel sorry for Alex. If this is not true, than this drama could NOT have come at a worse time. Nintendo is FINALLY getting involved with the competitive side of Smash and for this to come out now, does not bode well for Nintendo continuing this in the future.

With that being said, I think a lot of this is... bullshit. Personally, I think that it's entirely possible that the dude hit on some women, BUT WHO CARES! That is none of our business. This is why it matters: http://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/2t1r1w/its_time_for_me_to_share_my_side_of_the_alex/ Clashtournaments got angry that, due to Nintendos involvement, he was replaced as a main stream for APEX. He got mad and decided to lash out and attack someone publicly because he was hurt. I get why he would be mad, but if you've ever watched any of Clashtournaments streams, hes kind of an egocentric dick. I've watched him be extremely rude, cut people off, even go as far as to be sarcastic and snarky to a co-host who accidently called a forward tilt an up tilt... Then he rolls his eyes and proceedes to interupt his co-host and speak over them until they leave all because he determined that the other person was an idoit.

IF all this is true, then I totally agree that something should have been done about it. Theres no excuse for sexual harassment at all, but that does not mean that the issue should be resolved publicly. We do not know whether or not he cheated on anyone because its not our relationship. We do not know whether he hit on some girl and it made someone mad because it was their girlfriend, and they decided to attack him for it. Theres a big difference between flirting with/hitting on someone and sexual harassment, but a lot of people don't seem to know the difference.

Quite frankly, I hope people just let this die. Aside from it being none of our damn business, focusing on this too much is just plain bad for the Smash community's image.

I can understand where your coming from, relationships are usually meant to be more personal, but still, Alex has done some questionable things when it came to the tournaments other than just with his relationships and with CT like with the Japanese players, transgendered and Zero.  Whether Chibo felt that Nintendo hosting the Smash events took away streaming rights made him upset and lash out is true or not, someone still needed to speak out about his actions, even if some of the reveals were a bit extreme and personal.

We have no actual proof though... all we have are a bunch of easily photoshopped screen shots and the word of someone who I personally think is kind of shady and grimey. If its true, sure someone should have spoke out, in private. The matter should have been handled interally. If it was brought up and something wasn't done right that very second, then they should have been paitent instead of ruining someones life because they're a little butthurt and want to get even right now. The whole thing reeks like bullshit and comes off like a kid who didnt get their way so they dropped to the ground and started screaming and flailing until they got their way.
