It will be a blow to Xbox One. Consoles distinguish themselves from others with exclusives. This will reduce the value. If you want to play a game then get that system. If Nintendo games came into PC then nobody bothered to get Nintendo systems.


I don't buy this whatsoever. If anything this bolsters PC gaming and doesn't hurt Xbox One. I have tons of friends that are hardcore gamers, but they're not PC gamers. They game on their Xbox One.

That's like saying Playstation Now, which I can play on my Samsung TV, reduces the value of Sony consoles. Why buy that PS3 when I can play the games on my Samsung TV?

I know the cross play thing sounds like a bad idea but if it wasn't for cross play I would have never got an xbox 360. I played Mass Effect and Gears of War on my PC and both games were amazing to me. I then found out they were both on the 360 and would get the sequel quicker (gears of war anyways). So I got one.

Those games won't sell nearly as many Xbox One's if they're also available on PC. IF Xbox One sales fall too far behind PS4, PS4 will start getting exclusives by default, which means less games for Xbox One owners to play in the future. In other words, full exclusives are a neccessary component of a console's long-term success. 

i fully agree with your statement, exclusives give VALUE to the consoles... since consoles cant compete in terms of hardware against PC they have to do it in terms of software, thats were exclusives come to place, if you were to take out the exclusives away from the console you would be DEVALUATING the product, people who bought the console for exclusives would feel cheated if they see those games go away, and people interested in its exclusives would lose that interest if the exclusives start going away.

and for those who ask the typical question:

"Why does it bother you that it goes to PC? do you enjoy the game less if its also on another Platform?"

the answer is very simple:

its not that we enjoy the game less, its that the value of the console we bought is going down, because its losing its exclusives, exclusives that were the reason we bought the console in the first place.

if the console i bought started losing its exclusives i would get pissed off, because i would just feel cheated and i would have wasted my money on the console, money that i could have spent on a proper gaming PC, to play  the better version of those ex-exclusives.

We've all been gaming long enough to know that that could be a reality. That is a risk you take when you buy a console. IMHO dont buy a console if you're not willing to take that risk.

i trust in Playstation, their exclusives dont go to PC and the few that have gone to PC have done it after the gen ends (like valkirya chronicles).
