Windows 10 is free for the first year then it's a $25 a month subscription so no I will stick with windows 8.1.

This isn't correct at all. There is no monthly or anual subscription. Once you own it you will get updates for life. You can pay a service fee (or whatever they are calling it) to get smaller, more regular updates instead of waiting for all of the updates to be released in a service pack. That is optional though, and eventually you will still get all of the updates in a released service pack.

Source? I want a source for both of you btw and it better not just be speculation cause MS has confirmed that there will not be a fee for it

My PC crashed harddrive screwed up and I no longer have access to a legit Windows 7. I'll upgrade to WIndows 10 unless it's as bad as Windows 8. I think Windows 8 is garbage.

I will.

Day one. It looks really good!

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I too would like to see  a source I thought they knew what they were talking about but when I started digging I didn't come up with anything, the closest I got was this and this.

Yea cause it doesn't make any sense... There is no way in hell is Microsoft going to charge for updates cause that is one way to piss off consumers and get sued by tons of people cause if Microsoft is willingly not sending out security updates, that is a lot of personal information vulnerable so either they read some nonsense article or they are just BSing. There has been some talks of charging for "services" but a) thats all speculation b) out-dated cause the articles came that even mention a potencial "service fee" came out a while ago before the press-conference/announcements c) if MS is going to charge a service fee, its probably for xbox live or something similar for windows, not something as critical as OS updates

Why is it free? I don't know how I feel about that. There are probably in-app purchases.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Bah! I hate free things! I'll stick with the OSes they'll be dropping support for altogether soon. :p

I don't understand the hype of upgrading. I'm just buying a new laptop and then *poof* Windows 10 will be there without a trial.

You keep tryng to spread this bs. This isn't a 1 year trial. Its free upgrades for Win7 and Win8 users DURING the first year of release.

It is only free to those upgrading. This makes up a relatively small portion of MS annual OS sales (most sales come from OEM's and businesses, neither of which are free), think of it as a good will gesture for those that were upset with Windows 8.
