The former, not the latter. Its the 2nd most iconic jrpg WW :)

Well are we talking about the most iconic series that happens to be a JRPG or the most iconic series associated with the term and genre JRPG?? They are 2 different things after all.

What could Xenoblade possibly teach Final Fantasy? It was FF 12 that taught Xenoblade in the first place.

Couldn't be anymore right ...

No, just Final Fantasy is the most iconic franchise when one says JRPG, its associated to the term quite strongly. The most iconic JRPG WW I would pressume is Pokemon but its loosely tied to the term JRPG, people dont think of it that way. You know what Im saying??

Yes, there are similarities, but the game is also similar to .hack//infection, Phantasy Star Online, and many other games that came out prior to 12.

It's funny how 12 "taught" Xenoblade through ideas that have been used numerous times before, but Xenoblade can't teach FF because they are different series.

Did you even play those games ?!

Unlike Xenoblade you can actually continuously chain normal attacks in realtime in those games ...

The combat in Xenoblade straight up reminded me of FF XII. Had realtime movement in combat but didn't have the action based combat like a true or pseudo ARPG would such as Kingdom Hearts ...

Final Fantasy has been a dissappointing series since 10.

There is a lot it could learn from Xenoblade:
1. Adequate game pacing, Xenoblade has fantastic game pacing in an open world, Final Fantasy's linear worlds can't even seem to match that.
2. Side quests and stories, Final Fantasy lacks this, but Xenoblade has stuff to do all over the place in abundance.
3. Towns, FF12 had big empty fields with blocks representing masquerading as towns, FF13 didn't have them at all. This is something Xenoblade does way way way better.
4. A good battle system, Final Fantasy hasn't had one of these since 10, Xenoblade has the best in the industry.
5. A good story. Again, none since FF10. Xenoblade wasn't even meant to be a story focused game, but it demolishes FF12 and all those FF13s.

What Xeboblade could use from Final Fantasy is its fanbase. Final Fantasy has a huge fanbase of people who are infinitely forgiving of all the crappy entries in the series for the last 15 years. Xenoblade needs a marketing campaign to give it the exposure it deserves.

X 1000000000 this, Xenoblade X doesn't even appear on the last Famitsu most anticiped games chart... japanes gamers aren't even aware of it, Nintendo needs to step up & market the hell of the game, like the Pokemon marketing campaigns, it deserves it!!!

That's because they weren't interested in the last entry ...

I love Xenoblade but the towns in FFXII are better than every town in Xenoblade with the exception of Frontier Village.

Edit: having said that Xenoblade is better than FFXII in every other aspect
