So the problem is....? Since they can't be used online, it won't affect you other than to know that people can do it.  .06 might be the difference in the individual cost of the unit. What about contracts, lawyers, payroll, suppliers, shipping, taxes, fees and everything else that has to do with switching or even doing so in the first place? There are other things that affect cost rather than just the cost of the part.

Ammmm.... OK, so... this thread has a purpuse or... is just because is Nintendo?... oh well, there´s like 3 threads like this every hour...

You really think Nintendo is going to waste money making these things hacker proof? Lol! Skylanders and Disney characters have long been hacked already. Obviously they were going to get hacked, not a very impressive prediction.

The issue is cheaping out and going with low capacty, poor storage nfc hardware results in:

no ability to stop nfc replication, no encryption on the actual nfc dataso it can be modified, so someone could easilly release an apk/iso app containing all amiibos, including amiibos not currently released, which negtes the need to buy any further figures, but most importanty, a hardware limitation, meaning all currently released characters physically cannot store more than one games data, not now, not in the future.

The prediction wasnt meant to be impressive, it was meant to point out how stupid the design choice was.

It is a matter of FOB price only, Nintendo wouldnt have had to spend a penny on security because NFC tecnologies support various modes by default, providing the NFC tag used has said features, which the amiibos do not.

The price difference to Nintendo would litterally have been less than $0.06 per unit.

I get it, but still... they cannot use them online.

Who needs security when you have money?

This is pretty much what happens when you cheap out on the components to increase profits,  you sacrifice security.

I wrote up a long post detailing this a few months ago,  and lo and behold,  it becomes an issue as predicted.

Amiibo hater comfirmed? lol

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Is it wrong that I don't see the issue? Its as close to harmless as it can get right? They can't find a way use them to inject code into the game to make soft modding happen. It can't be used online for a unfair advantage too.

Really? I had NO IDEA that there were DLCs where you paid only 13 dollars and that could be used on SEVERAL games, and on two different consoles!

Dunno what to display here, soon I'll know what to put.

Sure, someone could do that, but who cares? I think you're entirely missing the fact that the target market for Amiibo's is children who want to play with the toy in real life and on screen and teens/adults who want them to sit on a shelf or tv stand and look pretty. I highly doubt Nintendo will miss out on more than 0.5% of total Amiibo sales due to an app that acts as Amiibo on demand...
