Their staunch defense of the car mode is weird. Imo, having it and classic mode would be ideal to appeal to fans of classic and recent and since they clearly created the groundwork for it with Amiibo...why didn't they go the whole hog?

No it's not. The car mode/linear Mario Party games sell a lot more. The logic is simple, and it's probably more financially viable than wasting resources on an additional board game mode for the three people they lost during the switch.

No online, No classic mode = no buy. Maybe if it was 40$ but thats a maybe.

when has mario party been anything other than a couch/local multiplayer game? online mario party kind of defeats the whole idea of, you know, a party.

i meant with online with friends.

You're right. Why should games ever evolve?

have you played mario party? it's a mini-game collection with a board game aesthetic. tell me, oh tell me, how you can do that online without defeating the whole purpose of its emulating a board game. it's ironic you should say this, tho--how revolutionary was the jump between nhl 2012 and nhl 2013? they must've really shaken things up for that kind of a leap.

Grr, very tempting! But I shall wait for more info on the game

Considering we already know most everything about the game, I'm curious as to what exactly you're waiting for.

Fingers Crossed for an Online announcement that will probably never happen

I hope other online stores start opening up pre orders for the bundle soon as i'd rather have the nice sweet outer box with the amiibo then the regular game.

They (as in just MP8 really as MP9 didn't do that much better than the good Mario Partys despite massive install base advantage and less other MP games on the system) sold a lot because it was on the Wii and utilized what made the Wii so hot, Motion controls, not because of the stupid car, primarily untraditional game boards, and solitare minigames. Now that we aren't blinded by the Wii motion control hype phase, people should be able to see this game for what is!

Meeh.. I'm still not getting it! :/

Smart move by Nintendo, I see this game having not much chance at selling for $60. I can't see the casual paying full price for this. I like this trend of none full price games. I can just hope Splatoon also gets a cut.

Not to show my age, but PS1 era games only cost $50 brand new when the dollar was arguably worth more and production costs were just as high, relatively, as they are today. I also like how Nintendo is releasing 'budget' titles, but I never did understand why with PS2 and PS3 era games the price suddenly jumped to $60 and stayed there.
