Selma is pretty good but its not better then 12 Years A Slave. Oyelowo probably should have gotten nominated but the other people that got nominated probably did a better job. Not really rooting for any movie but I'm hoping Interstellar gets the Oscar for best original score the movie itself could have been better but the score was great. Zimmer should have won last year also but all his worthy movies good snubbed he should have been nominated for Man of Steel, Rush and 12 Years A Slave.

Feels like Zimmer should win just about every year.

More or less he currently is the best movie composser working in the business and my second favorite European movie composser behind Ennio Morricone.

I hate all the reasons for controversy surrounding the Oscars right now. Be it too many white people getting nominated, American Sniper saying invasion is good, or film x getting snubbed. Makes me want to whack twitter with a rubber iPad.

Yes...the most critically acclaimed (and highest metacritic scored) movie...is definitely a bad movie. Its sitting at a whopping 89 Metacritic score. The problem is no one cares about a biopic right now and it needs more commercialization causig legs, or something is truly wrong on the viewer end.  That movies sales dont match the critic scores at all. Chances are because of its lack of popularity that also cost it awards as well.

Actually Boyhood was the highest rated movie of last year it got so many perfect reviews that it metascore is 100/100.

Thanks for correcting me, but you get my point. At least both of those films were nominated.

I'm black.

But then again, I use that phrase a lot.  Gotta use every tool in the toolbox!

I don't like pulling the  card. I try to find every other probable cause before I even stoop to going that low.

So, I have to throw something out there, and who knows, a lot of people might not like to hear it. I've been hearing a lot about how the new bioflick, Selma, about MLK in the months prior to the civil rights act, is getting "snubbed" at the Oscars. And I have to ask one question. How? Seriously, How is this movies getting snubbed? It's up for best picture, which I'm not so sure it should even be up for that. And It's not that it's a bad movie at all, it's just it has A LOT of strong competition this year. The thing I'm hearing the most about is how David Oyelowo is getting snubbed for best actor. Which I'm not sure if I agree with or not, as Jake Gyllenhaal isn't up despite his amazing job in the movie nightcrawler.

But then we get to the thing I've been seeing the most. How the director should be up for best director. Why? She did a good job directing sure, but her style brought nothing new to the table if you ask me. And for the people saying she's getting snuffed, watch the movies that are up for best director, they are simple more uniquely and originally directed than Selma. Simply put selma is a Good movie, and maybe it should be up for one or two awards, but no more than that. It's a well written movie with a few very good performances, but nothing else.

It's almost unheard of for best picture not to win best director, and if it doesn't win best director it always wins one or both best actor awards. Without at least one of those 3 awards a movie has no chance at best picture.

Since Selma isn't up for those individual awards the best picture nomination was merely a pity nomination.

The only movie that got snubbed was Interstellar.

Nah. That's was Nolan's most overblown movie. It's getting nominated for the right stuff. It just shouldn't be for any of the acting, writing, or directing awads. He needs to reel himself back in again.

Exactly it got nominated for the right stuff.  Hopefully it will win for best score because that is the one thing that truely stands out about the movie.  Too bad it couldn't have been like The Right Stuff which has a great score and is a great movie and is one of the most underrated movies from the 80s.

One of my favourite movies, definitely a top 5 biopic.

Are you a cop?

And from what I read of d21 he was pulling pullus's puller.

Except for the last two years those awards have all gone to different movies.
