PS3 performed good in any region of the world. X1 only runs well in US and UK. In most other countries X1 sales are a disaster, especially with PS4 selling 4 times better. Look at Japan and Europe without UK for example. In these important martets the X1 is a failure so far.

Not quite the same. The Wii was radically different from the GameCube. The PS4 builds on what made the PS3 great.

If Nintendop hadn't had the GC they wouldn't have tried something radically new. And really, very few of the bad design choices for the PS3 transferred over to PS4. Nintendo learned their lesson with GC, as did Sony with PS3. Sony took what was good with PS3, ditched the bad things, and gave us PS4. It is quite the same.

If they have to be similar to their predecessor, then we could blame the PS2 for the failings of PS3
