Kenka Bomba aka the sad state of mature games on 3DS. No wonder Vita and PS4 get all the support, this being confirmed by the good hold.

The Kenka games have never sold that great though. Highest selling sold 200K on PSP in 2008 and the sales went downhill from there. The most recent one, released on PSP in 2012, sold a 100k and opened with numbers similar to this one. Has more to do with the franchise than with the 3DS really.

Every sequel on the same platform declines from its prequel. That's like the law of video game sales that has very few exceptions. You expect the first entry on new platforms to outperform.

zzzzz... come wake me up when something new takes top spot, even console sales are boring.

It's not boring. If PS4 outsells Wii U by 5k every week in Japan from now on it's less than 5 years until it has cought up!

Exciting race!

Marathons are never exciting

They are... at the very end tho.

PS4 holding nicely.

Bad Numbers for everyone, except Nintendo 3DS, same as it ever was

Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!

Where are you getting your numbers from?

PS2 : Kenka Bancho ( Spike ) { 2005-06-09 } - 41,843 / 108,958
PS2 : Kenka Bancho [Playstation 2 the Best] ( Spike ) { 2005-12-01 } - - / 34,718
PS2 : Kenka Bancho 2: Full Throttle ( Spike ) { 2007-03-08 } - 43,087 / 85,632
PSP : Kenka Bancho 3: Badass Rumble ( Spike ) { 2008-11-27 } - 48,685 / 141,627
PSP : Kenka Bancho Portable ( Spike ) { 2009-10-29 } - 5,300 / 28,295
PSP : Kenka Bancho 3: Badass Rumble [PSP the Best] ( Spike ) { 2009-11-26 } - 1,300 / 31,774
PSP : Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou ( Spike ) { 2010-02-25 } - 72,923 / 179,354
PSP : Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou [PSP the Best] ( Spike ) { 2010-12-02 } - - / 38,339
PSP : Kenka Bancho 5: Otoko no Rule ( Spike ) { 2011-01-27 } - 64,358 / 137,146
PSP : Kenka Bancho 5: Otoko no Rule [PSP the Best] ( Spike ) { 2012-01-26 } - - / 22,998
PSP : Kenka Bancho Bros.: Tokyo Battle Royale ( Spike Chunsoft ) { 2012-06-21 } - 18,810 / 56,776
3DS : Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood (Spike Chunsoft) {2015.01.15} - 22.337 / NEW

The 2012 Kenka Bancho game was a spinoff.  For the next mainline entry, this is a really poor performance.

I think New 3DS did what it was supposed to, stop sales from plummeting. Last year, 3DS was down roughly 50% YoY thru the first 3 quarters. 3DS has been close to flat YoY for 4 months now, without the redesign we would still be looking at massive YoY declines. U could argue that it was Monster Hunter+Pokémon+Youkai Watch that prevented it but I would have to assume the fanbase for those games are already firmly on 3DS due to all those series already having huge selling installments on it.

I don't think it was expected that New 3DS was going to cause massive YoY gains so I'm pretty sure it has done it's job thus far.

I suppose that's a fair argument.  I was assuming more that it would've re-ignited sales somewhat combined with the slew of massive software that hit during Q4 2014, but perhaps that was too lofty a goal to aim for.

Looks like PS4 is gonna have a better 2015 than 2014 in Japan

at this rate, it will take months to even match it's first week sales.

3DS 44k Not bad. The king of Japan will remain for a long time yet.

Vita 17k OK for the Vita but unless it gets a big game like MH or DQ it will die a slow death.

PS4 15k Will be easily the top selling next gen home console this year and hopefully these numbers are a sign of big things over the next 4 months.

Wii U 9k After SMash coming out recently these sales are not great and a sign that it's best Japan days are behind it.

PS3 7k This is just refusing to die. I wonder will it beat the Wii U for a week or two with Tales releasing soon.

Vita TV 682 Terrible sales. Not much you can say.

Xbox One 300 I was saying numbers could get this low recently but I didn't think it would be this soon. How low can they go? Surely all major retailers will stop stocking it soon. Could end up below 100 per week. I knew it never had a chance but this is worse than I could ever imagine.

Boring week. Nintendomination, like every week.
