Gradius 3 on NES was fun.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Mushihimasama Futari is one of my favorites. I also liked the downloadable 1942 joint strike. Crimson Clover too.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Fantasy Zone 2 gave me epilepsy when I was a child (all those effing colors!).

OT: My favorites were Afterburner and R-type... The best! Also another one for the Turbo Graphix16 I can't seem to remember right now...

was it by any chance blazing lazers? because that was the shit.

Holy Moly! You took me on a DeLorean going 88 MPH just now! Yes I mean this game!

This game is epic! You know if they have it on any eShops or PSNs?

Try After Burner and Galaxy Force.

Shmups aside, generally there're few more good Sega games that use hardware sprite-scaling and have a 80s nostalgia feel for me. Any arcade machine based on Sega X, Y and Z boards are worth looking into (emulated or any of dozens reeditions on consoles).

BTW there's latest part of the After Burner series available on X360 and Lindbergh arcade hardware, it seems ther latter version is relatively easy to find, at least I was able to find one in local mall and another one in amusement center. Not that I liked it very much, a pure nostalgia attraction ride.

it is on the wii virtual console for 600 pts. plays really smoothly in wii mode on wii u and since it's sprite-based the lack of hd isn't too bad.

I would like to point out a particular favorite of mine.

Touhou 9: Phantasmagoria of Flower View

It's different from the rest of the Touhou games, in that it's a one-on-one competitive STG. I'll try to explain the basic rules of how it works.

  • Killing an enemy will spawn a bullet on the opponet's screen
  • Killing spirits (The colorful bird-like things) will send unique (character-specific) bullets to the opponent's screen.
  • The small bullets can be destroyed with enemies' explosions. Doing this will make them re-appear on the opponent's screen (Bullets can be sent back and forth forever in this way)
  • Players build up "Gauge" over time. Spending this will launch a special attack at the opponent, as well as clear out any nearby bullets.
  • The number of bullets keeps increasing until one player loses all their health. The last player standing is the winner.

My favourite LAN experience.

12.3 Comes real close though.

Try Tyrian, ESP Ra.De., Panzer Dragoon II, Batsugun, Blazing Star, Lords of Thunder (for the music).

12.3 Is great! But it isn't a shmup.

I love playing it, despite how much of a noob I am at it.

Tyrian 2000 and Radiant Silvergun are some of my favortite SHUMPs, but I also like the Parodius games due to how fucking crazy they are!
