Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Games Look Great At Higher Resolutions!

The only one I could really notice that much was Wii Sports, and Skyward Sword a little

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

Is there a TV that can screenshot itself? Cuz u need it. Just kidding, I probably couldn't afford it. I've seen a couple of improvements myself.

Yeah I was looking at this thread on my phone, and I was like, "Oh now I see why people are saying the screenshots look dark." I guess my monitor is pretty bright because all the screens are clearly visible on it, but  on my phone the games did indeed look too dark to see. :D

If you ask me, a lot of Wii games look great even at 480p.

^This. Yeah they look great at 1080p, but I was still amazed by them in 480p.

Nintendo really should have made the Wii able to do hd. Many great games that really missed out in that respect

One of the focusses of the Wii was being affordable; the ability  to do HD would have meant a beefier GPU and a higher price tag.

Aesthetically the games are gorgeous but 480p doesn't feel right on my flat screen though. I unfortunately don't have fat screens anymore.

And I assume dolphin plays with the mouse instead of the Wii mote?

Remember, Dolphin is running these games at 1080p with SSAA. Most PS360 games were running at less than 720p with less taxing forms of AA (also less rewarding.) And PS360 were very expensive consoles, with very expensive development costs, and ran hot and less energy efficient than the Wii. It just wouldn't have worked in 2006. I do think Nintendo needs to be releasing the Wii games on Wii U at 1080p (or 720p.)

I've only really played my WIi on flat screens, so no problem for me there. CRT's are too energy inefficient imo. Waste a lot of electricity and can't justify their costs.

I play with my Wiimote + Wii motion plus, using my Wii as a power source for its sensor bar.

Ah i see. And yeah, you can use keyboard and mouse, or a gamepad if you want, but it is best to buy a Wiimote + Nunchuck, bluetooth adapter, and sensor bar. All of them together can be bought for like $50, since I already had a Wii all I needed was a bluetooth adapter (which was like $5.)
