Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo expand on 3D / Gamepad or drop them?

As we all know, Nintendo likes to use new technology once it gets cheap enough to make sense for gaming. With the DS, they introduced duel screens & with the Wii, motion controls. They kept them both for the current gen but added to it.

3DS added the 3D, while the U added a Gamepad as a center of the system. Wii U still heavily uses Wii Remotes for multiplayer games though.

Next Gen will be here within the next few years, what will Nintendo keep, and what will they ditch? What would you like them to do?

I think they'll definitely ditch the Gamepad, but the 3D I think they can still expand off of as we're seeing with the new 3DS. I think it would be a waste if they just dropped the 3D since they've probably put a lot of money into that feature where as I can't say the same about the gamepad.

Just make a normal console please...No gimmicks..

they'll expand on both.

My thoughts:

What Nintendo will do: No idea, it's Nintendo.

What should they do: I believe they should drop 3D as it raises the price while not adding much value for most people. I think they should keep the Gamepad but make it optional. I think it would make sense to keep duel screens & motion controls

What I want them to do: I don't care what they do with their HH. I would like the console to drop the Gamepad but use the next HH as a Gamepad. Motion controls can stay

Drop 3d. At the time everybody was pushing 3d cinemas, tvs, bluerays etc. And it has failed which is why T.V manufactures are dropping it.

Hopefully they keep both tbh =P

its nintendo we does not have a clue what they are doing next.... but i want virtual reality system on nintendo way, now the tech is cheap and ready for a mass market, unlike it was in the early 90's.

34 years playing games.

3D is getting cheaper and easier to implement so they will probably keep that. The gamepad on the other hand? Not so much. I think they'll give us a Wiimote 2 + Classic Controller combo with the next console and maybe keep the gamepad as an accessory (like the Wii balance board or Zapper).

Well they've just made the 3D workable with the new eye tracking so i think they will carry on with that, they will drop the pad next console cycle as its been an expensive failure. It has brought little to nothing even from Nintendos titles and has driven the cost of the console up far too high.
