Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Shouldn't Nintendo do this?

With all the financial struggles Nintendo has been through the last couple of years and seeing how there is a Nintendo product (Majoras mask 3DS) literally selling out before it releases, instead of Gamestop trying to control scalpers, shouldn't Nintendo.......make more? I mean, It's just the outer pieces no? the consoles are already made.

One would think they would but considering their amiibo shortages, Majoras Mask Figure bundle shortages as well as gamecube adapter shortages, Nintendo showed us that they would rather not make money

Agreed, It's as if they refuse these opportunities t sellmore items and also help their costumers not to overpay to scalpers.

That would make people lose faith in the title, "Limited Edition"

Well, I was also scratching my head this Christmas when Nintendo didn't offer a Smash Bros Wii U bundle.  It definitely seems like a blunder to be under-estimating demaind like this.  The only thing I can think of is that until March 31st, Nintendo is mainly concerned with earning profit and not necessary maximizing unit sales.  Maybe the cost of manufacturing more units at this exact moment would negate their short-term profits (?)

More likely that Nintendo just made a blunder...

Part of the reason that people want them so badly is because they're limited.  Pretty much every company does this sort of thing.

The risk is that they produce too much, these scapers are just holding it back and manipulate the price. Its not like its real demand

Huh... we actually don't have any idea of how much time they need to make more units avaiable. Not only that, but they need to get the time rigth. If they make more that will only be avaiable 2 week after release, its a wasted effort, and retailer loss confidence in hold nintendo products. Its like the WiiU launch, when a lot of the machines remained unsold for months.

But yeah, nintendo always had a problem with distribution.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Here's how they should have made to protect from scalpers:

Give us regular "New" 3DS or "New" 3DS XL with customizable faceplate & let third party makers(Hori) take of this.

I agree... Especially since I lost out on the Hyrule Warriors scarf...!
