I'm appaled at you and all guy here suggesting 1080p won't make difference except on giant TVs.

That's a strong word.

Why does it bother you so much?

Because I see people claiming they don't see a difference that is clear to defend a personal agenda. I prefer resolution over framerate, but I'm not claiming that I can't differentiate 30 to 60 fps, because I can. It's the same for resolution, everybody with a healthy vision can see the difference.

Well, I guess my 40' TV now is a gigantic screen for the standards of this thread. I wonder that if I bought a 55 or 60' set it would be defined as gargantuan.

How would you know what other people see though? Perception is subjective.

Perception is different of visual accuity. You can't go to the doctor, not be able to read the letter and say "I'm fine, it's just a different perception".

Visual acuity is not the whole story. Some people actively look for jaggies, while others just play the game and don't even notice. We don't process every minute detail we see, our brain filters it subjectively.

Then maybe 60 fps isn't important too. I can go back happily to my PS3, all cross gen titles can be bought for it! Really, It's not hard to ignore. It's in the whole picture.

60fps is auch a game changer (in most cases at least), I'm very willing to lower the resolution for that.

For you, maybe 60fps isn't important. And if you're saying there's insufficient reason to upgrade to PS4, I personally agree.

I never said it isn't. I prefer it and I prefer my high resolutions. I'm just pointing out how ridiculous is to say that you can't see resolution differences but can see framerate differences. For you, maybe 1080p isn't important. I think we should throw or Blu-rays out of the window and return to DVDs or, even better, VHS.

You can't think there isn't enough reasons for a PS4, but 18.5M people think otherwise. Just the improved multitasking and video/screenshot sharing capabilities are a beefy enough upgrade and the biggest innovation in the gen so far.

Off-topic: Nowadays, this forum is full of people that think that both PS4 and X1 don't have games. But outside of this little world, nobody thinks that way. They are happy with their Far Cry, Fifa, CoD, Forza, LittleBigPlanet and so on. People act like these two are only selling on hype. They are selling because they have consistent plans to be marketed, to be supported by developers and to deliver a good experience in the next 5 or 6 years.

I play my PS4 on my 24" 1080P monitor, a lot of games already look a bit choppy if they had bad AA as I'm so close to my screen. Lowering the resolution would just make things really bad for me, so I'd take a *VERY* consistent 30fps at 1080p Than 60fps at 720p. Although I would choose 900p60fps over both , 720p is just too low for me.

edit: I realize my resolve is very particular to the small percentage of gamers who play consoles on Monitors. If I was far away I'd go with 720p60fps.. maybe.

Nothing ridiculous about it; 720p to 1080p is a minor disparity in my view, but 30fps to 60fps is night and day. I am not the only one who thinks so either, many here would agree.

Other people thinking differently only proves my point that its subjective.

Having gamed since the 16 bit era, I don't think any other major consoles have underwhelmed me as much as PS4/Xbone have so far, but that's ok, cos they're not the only options available to me.

It's not surprising that you would go the Wii U route. Everybody who doesn't see 1080p here have a similar taste. But it's an opinion. For me, the most underwhelming consoles were made by Nintendo since the Wii. I want power, I want online features and they are absolutely abysmal in providing this. Right now, I can share any screen or videoclip of my play sessions with anyone. If I do something cool playing online, I have it recorded. Always. For me and for the market, a much bigger innovation than a tablet.

Well, the "minor disparity" sold 8M copies of the next gen version of GTA, so it looks like the majority of people do care. Most of the X1 vs PS4 discussions are about resolution. People do care, and a lot.

With your point, we can prove that 30 vs 60fps is subjective too.
