Forums - Gaming Discussion - Driveclub sold only 84k in the US.

Going to be a bit of a rant, so just ignore if you want.

Concerted effort by a number of posters on multiple sites to derail any thread where it's PS exclusive or lead platform. Just look at the comments on every Order, Knack or Destiny thread. Sometimes this happens to MS exclusives too, but the feeling I get is that it is highly one sided, and getting worse each generation.

There are some justified concerns but the people who post over and over again in every thread are fairly obvious, and it's just sad that nothing can be done about this unless they stray past one rule or other. I go into some threads now already knowing who will be posting, and the tone, before even clicking on it.

Unfortunately even review sites are often pulled in to going with the flow, and we see games reviewed even by people who do not even like the genre or go along with strange ideas. No soul, generic, not open world, or not next gen enough when quite clearly these are just opinions and are impossible to argue against, but used as tools to set a mark which was decided by an agenda.

Games should be reviewed on technical achievements, visual qualities, content, and most of all, is it fun.

I'm beginning to think the internet is doing more harm than good now. It gives people far too much power to push agendas which are harming to businesses, and people who work for them.

People probably read the reviews that went over the games big flaws. Plus the demo Sony put at retail is terrible, really highlights the shit AI and terrible penalty system (which they have fixed, a little).

With the weather and photo aspects being added, the game seems to be getting a second life purely for eye candy though.

The game is a lot more than eye candy to be fair.

It is not my style but I will take DC over FH2 any day because it is more fun to play... FH2 is a hell of boring... Forza 5 is my choice yet on Xbone.

Not sure what Forza has to do with anything but as far as more than eye candy goes, meh, not so much from what i played. Got about halfway done with the career as far as i could tell and couldnt be compelled to pick it back up. People sure love the purty weather and photo shots though.

All in all, not surprised the game isnt selling well outside of bundles.

I just started recently and after 1 race was about 900k on the overall leaderboards

So yeah, close to 1m have the started the game worldwide. That's all I know

I was curious and started DriveClub on my second PSN-Account... I drove extra bad in the initial race to get as less fame as possible and waited an hour to finish the race.

764,754 drivers finished the first race, the slowest one waited over 10 hours to roll over the finish line:

The game was started on over 1 million PSN accounts, I got the second least fame (except the zero-famers):

Of course that doesn't mean that DriveClub is a million-seller yet, even digital sales included (resold games, account sharing, loaned games).

Well it's not like they advertised the game that well in the US. I don't think seen anything on TV to even acknowledge it's existance. Add in the mediocre reviews and botched launch, along with a few other factors, then it's not that hard to believe the game sold poorly in the US.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

Horrific launch, slightly better digital deals, mixed reviews and a lot are probably still waiting for the PS+ version.

Forza 5 is the game to play yet... and you are talking about racning games so it needed to be said how boring is FH2.

And the sales are great... ahead the expectations... even EVO agreed with that... even without bundles it is selling really great... the issue is that US is not the racing country.

Digital sales are high. The game was cheaper digitally on launch.

Not surprised considering how much of a train wreck it initially was. I've heard they fixed a lot but it might be a case of too little too late.

They shouldve delayed it and made sure it was ready to go in the first place

I believe the announced ps plus version hurt its sales.
