Is the charger a standard mini or micro USB? Or is it a proprietary charger?

Everyone replying to you with the word 'proprietary' could've also mentioned that it's the same charger they've been using since the DSi. So if you've bought a Nintendo handheld in the last 6 years, you have the right charger.

Unless you sold or gifted the DSi or old 3DS to someone else... why keep it, when the new 3DS is compatible to all DS, DSi and 3DS games?

While I personally do agree it's a bit cheap to leave out the AC adapter on their 'XL models', even though it doesn't look like it when one reads my replies about this subject, I am finding it beyond annoying that once again people are falling over this issue. An issue that been standard since the DSi XL released 5 years ago. On a gaming forum no less, you'd think everyone would know by now after 3 releases and half a decade. Besides that, I think everyone that buys an XL and then gets pissed off there's no charger afterwards should've just read the box before blindly grabbing stuff off the shelf and they can only be mad at themselves, but that's me.

Wow. I've never seen so many whiney bitches in one place! This really isn't as big of a deal as this site and other sites are making it seem.

There's a reason other sites are talking about this. It is a big deal. Nintendo is knowingly selling an incomplete console for more money. You just can't defend this.

I don't know why give it away .

This ties in with my other post though, that would then be your own problem.

But I can. And I have. And I will continue to. Nintendo makes some pretty stupid decisions sometimes. But this is certainly not one of them. No one would even say anything if the price was $5 higher and the charger was included. How is this situation any different?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

And still there are plenty of people defending this. Keep on defending the company that is exploiting you more, it will be interesting to see how far they are willing to go and how far you are willing to let them... But please, do continue pointing out flaws in companies you do not like...

A festive quote for all:
"In Germany, they came first for the communists. I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist.
When they locked up social democrats, I remained silent. I was not a social democrat.
Then they came for the Jews. I didn't say anything, I wasn't a Jew.
And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."
Martin Niemöller

But you're not actually comparing Nintendo to Nazi Germany, right? People defend Nintendo because, while some of their decisions are questionable, they release quality ass products time and time and time again. Other companies in this day and age seem to be faltering. So I think it's bullshit that Nintendo gets jumped on for something so small yet does so many other things right.

stepping back and looking at it, makes perfect sense. If a charger is $20, then the new 3ds would be $219.
this way is better and makes sense.
For you apple people, if all your devices use the same ac power, and taking it out the box could lower the next iphone, pad and pod by $20, then it makes sense to do so. New comers, just buy it.
ONLY draw back would be shortage of ac adapters.

And cars will be sold without wheels in the future... You probably have some from your old car... ;)

You can buy charges for 2 bucks, why is this such a big deal?

Are they not interested in getting new customers?

Do you not see how it's a bit of a pain for a new customer to have to work this out and then buy one seperately? If I buy something like this, I'd really like it to work without me having to buy an accessory

As for the price, it would cost them a couple of £ to include the charger. My point about the £20 is that if you go through the official Nintendo store, that is the most obvious solution presented to you. When/if I buy one, I don't think I'll be spending £20 on a charger/cradle

The charger and cradle is priced at £20 by Nintendo.

I think its a reasonable assumption that the New 3DS bundle is £20 cheaper than originally planned due to them removing the charger.

I strongly disagree. Accessories tend to have huge margins compared the hardware itself.
