Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 10 reasons Why SSB Wii U is the Biggest disappointment of 2014

Is there any reason to have 3 Kid Icarus and 4 Fire Emblem characters?  No one cares that much for those games.  =/

Stopped reading there and bursted out laughing. Kid Icarus has a pretty large fan base for a niché Nintendo game (read: non Mario/Zelda game) and it sold over 1 million so far. It's also one of my favorite "new" Nintendo franchise. As for Fire Emblem, Awakening is pretty popular and considered as one of the best game for the 3DS. So you != everyone. You probably didn't tried Robin, because he/she is one the better new characters in the game. Don't write him/her off as a "mehh, another sword fighter FE character", because he/she can use magic that adds a lot to his/her character uniqueness.

PS: Actually, Xenoblade and Earthbound has a LOT smaller fan-base, than Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem...

I agree, stages are lackluster and no story mode. I played brawl for over 100 hours on story mode alone. Now, all you do is different variations of fighting. I love Smash Wii U but it could have been so much more. I'm glad Sakurai did what he could do and he went through hell trying to create the game. I appreciate that. But Smash has too much potential and I don't think he's got it in him to unelash that full potential anymore. I can't do anything he does game creation wise and I acknowledge that but no Story Mode killed me inside after all that could have been done.

Let´s just say that..... after playing the game after about 25 hours with family and friends, I disagree with all the points.

Anyway... opinions are opinions. For me, the game is way way way war far from being a dissapointment. On the contrary, it´s really one of the greatest games of 2014 and one of the greatest this generation.

Some valid points, but overall it doesn't spoil, what is, a fantastic and incredibly well made game.

Yeah, it was a well made game.  12 years ago.  Now it just feels like Melee 2.0

Now you are just reaching. The discussion ends here.

Please elaborate.  Everything I said was factual.  I've been playing this game for the past 2 months.

Correction, virtually everything you stated is your personal opinion.  And, as such you should change the title to "why I feel ssbu is the game that disappointed ME the most in 2014."

1. I think the roster is just as good as any other. some are not great but you could say that for any of the games.
3. What were they supposed to add? its a fighting game. What did the others prior add?
5. Wolf was just another clone of Fox why is he any worse than Dr. Mario? Cause you like him? really subjective.
9. I think the levels are great especially the new star fox one
10 subspace emmirsary is terrible ive yet to have anyone tell me why its good.

The fact that the online is actually funtioning puts it ahead of Brawl IMHO

1.)  lol it's not.  Look at Tekken, the rooster gets update and revamped every game more than Smash 4 does by a long shot.

3.) Revamp characters? Add new menchanics instead removing them so causal can enjoy it better?

5.) Lol at saying Wolf was a clone, he literally had the same final smash and similar down b, other than that he had nothing in common with Fox.  As for Dr. Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina who are pretty much carbon copies with little different about them

9.)  Seriously?  So little bit of the levels are on par with Brawl and theyre so little bit of them.

10.) It's not the best, but they could have dont a  better campaign mode than just Smash Tour or Classic.

Functioning Online is 2015 is a plus? Not sure if srs.

No wonder Sakurai feels the way he does, with feedback like this.

So much has been added to the game, and he has listened to the fans and brought back the likes of Dr. Mario, and Mewtwo is on the way.

For Fun and For Glory allows people to find like-minded opponents to battle online against, and the temporary banning feature enforces that. The number of controllers supported is unprecedented - you can't fault the attempts to accommodate as many preferences as possible.

If one game has really made use of the Gamepad, it's SSB4 - the stagebuilder allows for some great creativity. The screenshots you can take no longer need a converter to display on your PC, and you can get creative with those on the Gamepad, too. The Mii fighters and customisable features brings a new element to the game, and of course, there's Amiibo.

You can't please everyone all of the time. Sure, I miss SSE, I miss Snake, Palutena's Guidance doesn't work as well as the codecs in my opinion, and don't care for the boardgame element. But there's plenty of new stuff that interests me, and the online experience is so much better than Brawl.

How anybody can say this is just a lazy rehash of a game made 6 years ago is beyond me, unless they've yet to explore all the new features that are there.

It's not a complete rehash, but it's overall a weak sequel of a game made 6 years prior.  If you guys think that it isn't is beyond me

Lol Earthbounds Fan base is bigger than both, and it hasn't made a game in the west since the 90s.  Xenoblade's fanbase is huge for a new I.P while pit and marth have been getting free advertisment in smash for years and FE has been making consistent games for about 2 decades, it still can barely pull out a million sales..

Now I would never diss a game just to get attention, take a second to listen before you think this thread is hating.

Eminem fan! "I would never diss my own momma just to get recognition, take a second to listen before you think this record is dissin."

Unlike Eminem, you aren't rhyming really great though.

THE REASON YOU MADE THAT CD FOR ME MA? SO YOU CAN TRY AND JUSTIFY THE WAY YOU TREATED ME MA?!

Smash for wii u is actually my favorite game.. I can't see that changing anytime soon

Points sound a bit subjective to me, but a few are less so, but for example the story would've put even more strain on Sakurai, plus he's already given us so much content in the game.
