Forums - PC Discussion - Theory: GTA 5 PC is ready to ship

Thanks gribble and welcome back! I probably wouldn't agree with myself 100% either but the fact they make way more from consoles has a huge bearing.

The PS4 bundle is still doing pretty well so I can see how it would make sense to make hay while the sun shines. They've also got no competion this month. Grim Fandango isn't going to cut into sales and neigher is Evolve. The story driven games don't hit until February and March. By the time they release on PC, there will be two games to compete and then they can pick up the slack on the PC. Definitely makes sense.

The PS5 Exists.

Hacked PS3s and 360s account for a WAAAAAAAY lower % of pirating than PC gaming. You can pirate virtually any game I want on PC with no effort. Console pirating is used by 5% of the console population at most, it is used by probably about half of PC gamers. Every PC gamer I know pirates from time to time

Firstly, no duh console piracy is lower than PC. Everyone knows that but the point that I was trying to make is that, just because something is avaliable for free doesn't mean it will get devalued like crazy and people won't buy it and Rockstar is certainly a company that has been porting GTA games to PC since forever. Another example is that you can pirate songs easier than games but does that mean that music artists won't put their songs on itunes cause its avaliable for free? Of course not... Secondly, can I see some proof that says that its probably "half of PC gamers" are pirates?

Can I see proof no artist has ever held their song off itunes due to piracy? I doubt it has ever happened but it is possible and you can not proof it either way..... Just like I can not proof what I am saying either way. I am not saying half of PC games just pirate and do not buy but half of PC gamers pirate from time to time. Either way it is a huge number, I work in IT so me and everyone in my department PC game atleast to an extent and everyone of us have pirated before.

The ones that waited for the PC version won't buy the console version because the PC version was delayed...

And the ones interested in the console versions don't stop buying games and start pirating because the PC version gets released.

You can pirate the PS3 and 360 versions and they still sold very well.

It's maybe because of the legandarily awful GTA IV port.

did you ask everyone that?

because i know for a fact a lot of people game on pc and console. The delay of the PC version definitely steered a lot more sales to consoles and with mod support some of those will prob double dip and get it on pc too. Hell some might triple dip.

Yes. Console gamers are the biggest pirates for PC games. And all the people who waited for over a year for the PC version suddenly can't contain themselves anymore to wait 2 months more and are now buying the console version.

Must be because last time they lost billions of dollars because they released the PC version too soon.

And yes, that's exactly what you said.

That's not what he said, expecially not exactly. At this piont I would usually explain what the OP meant but he already said it clearly enough and you couldn't even pick up on what he meant so...was your comprehension purposefully spacious or do you actually just get off telling people 'exactly' what they said?

And considering the requirements of the PC version being super low, it certainly looks like they are optomizing it very well

It's not the case, it's a last gen game and its requirements are low because it's made with last gen tech.

The screen shots they released looked my for a maxed out pc version. Definitely didn't go crazy with the effort they made.

I think story dlc will be released in February. So they obliviously are afraid of piracy. Don't forget there are people who own both PC and a console. And those PC gamers who have GTA v for ps3/ps4 would buy a story dlc. Some extra money for R. Though my opinion is probably wrong.

I would agree with the title that despite the fact they told us that they need 2 more month that it is ready for shipping.

It might be the case that they do some more adjustments but for me the reason for the delay is simple math.
It got delayed due to they financial forecasts for the upcoming quarters.
If you look at the numbers TTWO stock crashed in the past when they made weak forecasts without any new game title announcment in their hand. That changed in the past months and the management focuses to bring more solid numbers each quarter.
So here it is: they release the PC version just one week before the ongoing quarter ends. That should bring 50-100 million additional turnover into their pockets due to the presales and first week are the most important. But still there will be a big part of the sales shift to the next quarter to enable TTWO to increase their forecast compared to the last fiscal year. This is also underlined by the fact that there is no game announcment made yet for April-July and I dont expect any new titles from them in this period.

They did an effort, I'm not saying otherwise. But it's a last gen engine, with last gen lightning using next gen technology. It doesn't matter how you remaster TLOU, GTA, Tomb Raider, etc because they have engines that won't use modern technology. They won't look pretty compared to Killzone, InFamous, Driveclub, Ryse, etc. Even Metro Redux, that is a game that was miles above all other remaster in visuals, feels a bit dated in some aspects.
