Forums - PC Discussion - Theory: GTA 5 PC is ready to ship

I'm surprised Rockstar only announced the delay and said they needed 2 months more dev time 2 weeks before release. That seems a little too close.

My guess is they are making a ton of revenue from the next gen versions and don't want to risk it being pirated on PC as that might sway some console gamers to get it for free on PC. Basically they are making a shit load of cash from the Sony and MS platforms and probably want to extend that as long as possible.

I highly doubt that is the case. Rockstar got highly criticized for the shit PC port known as GTA IV and I am pretty sure they don't want that shit show happening again. Do not under-estimate the PC market and specially, do not generalize PC gaming as being piracy cause thats just plain wrong. There are tons of games coming out on PC including SFV and MGS V so if these companies are so scared of piracy as you suggest, none of these games would be coming to PC

And considering the requirements of the PC version being super low, it certainly looks like they are optomizing it very well

Yes. Console gamers are the biggest pirates for PC games. And all the people who waited for over a year for the PC version suddenly can't contain themselves anymore to wait 2 months more and are now buying the console version.

Must be because last time they lost billions of dollars because they released the PC version too soon.

And yes, that's exactly what you said.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

More likely that they saw how close the release date was and realized that they weren't ready to release it.

Plus they've already made a shit ton of money on the console versions.

Maybe but not in its best shape, they can improve it more the optimization is already good just by looking the minimum requirements.

PC gaming has tons of pirates.... But obviously that is not why they are delaying the game

Thats what happens when you release a game on PC. There is high chance your game will be pirated. You can only imagine how many times The Witcher 3 will be pirated considering The Witcher 2 had a record breaking amount of pirated copies.

It does... And no one is saying it doesn't... But Pirating is not what PC gaming is all about

I never said pc was all about piracy. They might fear their product will be devalued if suddenly it's available for free

Well, there are things called a "Hacked ps3 and Hacked 360" and I own a hacked ps3 which I hacked myself and GTA V is avaliable for free on hacked ps3s/360s (and it was avaliable for free 2+ weeks prior to public release) but does that mean that GTA V got devalued? Probably not... Rockstar is an old company that has ported virtually every single GTA to PC and Piracy isn't a new thing. So yea, its certainly not cause of that
