Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New 3DS Ambassador Edition: Wifi problem

Hey guys, I've just received my New 3DS Ambassador Edition and was super excited to get hold of it.

Going through set-up, though, New 3DS can't connect to WPA2-PSK (TKIP) networks. I live in a shared property so can't temporarily disable the network security settings and set up that way, but the weirdest thing is this stype of wifi security is supported by the original 3DS and 3DS XL.

I can get a MicroSD reader to perform the system transfer that way, but I'm not sure if I'll keep the device if this feature has been permanently dropped. Does anybody know if this network setting is going to be added via a firmware update? Any other ambassador edition owners, or Japanese/Australian/New Zealand owners that can help me out? I can't find anything much about this online.

You're gonna have to call Nintendo as most all of us don't even have access to the N3DS yet.

Wi Fi problem are annoying as hell.

Hmm, this might be bad news for you. Apparently the 2DS doesn't support this type of Wi-Fi security (where 3DS and 3DS XL do), so maybe they've simply removed this support as standard. Seems a little ridiculous though - the 2DS is understandably less featured to support a lower price, but surely the New 3DS shouldn't be going backwards?

In Australia we got the New 3DS and WPA2 is supported. However I use AES encryption which is more secure as TKIP has been broken.

So not sure if TKIP is an option. If you got WPA2-AES means they took out TKIP for secuirty reasons.

Thanks for the help guys, I can't actually change the router settings myself, it's all in the landlord's hands. I think he's using an old router that might not have AES as an option, but he's changing everything over in the next few months (new provider, equipment etc) so I think I should be able to wait it out and have an AES network set up soon.

Downlaod the manual for his router it may give oyu a clue if it does. This is assuming you know the model number.

Awwwwww... That sucks. Should have sold it for big monies, instead of indulging in the goodness.
