GTA BACK ON TOP

Week 2 of 2015 sees a return to No1 for Rockstar/Take 2 and ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-51%).


This is actually only the fifth No1 for ‘GTA V’, which some people may find surprising given its status as fastest-selling game within a 7 day period (launch week 38/2014) and also the fact that this game has sold more units than any other in the UK (achieved in week 47/2014 after the launch of the Gen 8 versions).

Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ drops to No2 (-61%) having held on to No1 for a total of 6 weeks since launch. EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ remains No3 (-51%) with an 8 week run at No1 since launch. There are no new releases and the only other notable change is the rise of Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ from No27 to No11 (-3%) thanks to a spike in sales of the official Assassin’s Creed Kinect Unity/Black Flag Xbox One hardware bundle.

It's that time of the year that uk charts will start to get meh and similar for a while. But good hold of DC and The Crew on PS4. Also many PS4 titles above their counterparts on XBO, good week for Sony.

You're right. But again this is a huge improvement for the PlayStation brand in this market.

It's nice with some competition in US and UK. That way PS4 will have to keep on getting great games and price cuts (though PS2 did that without competition).

Xbox as a brand is so strong in UK. 360 and ONE hold 19 places on the chart.

ONE: 13
PS4: 12
360: 6
PS3: 4
3DS: 2
PC: 2
WiiU: 1

Handhelds are dying so fast here as is Nintendo. From over 8m Wii's sales last gen, to lucky if it achieves over 1m this gen.


WiiU still below 1m currently? It's really surprising how close rise and fall are in the console business. Hopefully Nintendo has more success with the next console.

Dying Light should certainly benefit from being the only January release. Looking forward to it,as it seems it might be a good game as well.

But I'm afraid this entire quarter will be much worse than last year, very few mass-appeal titles coming out.

These charts will be boring until Feb i reckon

Dying Light will have 2 full weeks for itself
Doesn't look good to me though. I'll probably go with RE HD instead

 

I know the AC bundle went down to 299.99 pounds (vs 329.99 standard sku)... that'd explain the bump but they say kinect. Either that sku also had a discount or they made a mistake and meant the kinectless sku.
