Forums - Gaming Discussion - How did Sony turn the PS3 around but Nintendo couldn't do the same with Wii U?

Can Nintendo turn the Wii U around like Sony did with PS3?

Of course. Nintendo will pull off a miracle. 118 25.21%

Sony got rid of a lot of guys too. For example, Ken Kutaragi. Nintendo keeps all their guys which is holding them back. Shigeru Miyamoto should be regulated to handhelds only; Satoru should be fired; Eiji should be nowhere near Zelda, etc. etc.

Sony had to do an entire rebranding of the PS3. They did that in 2009 with the PS3 slim. And by 2009, the PS3 had some great exclusives that made it worth buying (Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Infamous, Demon's Souls, etc. etc.).

I think nintendo doesn't really care to turn around wii u(Its only aim is the profits and will manage this aim as always) but if this was happening to its handheld,It will definitely try to do a turnaround...
And it did, when 3DS faced problems in its year of release(not in the extend of wii u problems, though)It made some key moves and turned around 3DS...

The secret is, they never did, it had good sales from day one and got stronger from there., wiiu started strong then bellyflopped into obscurity.

3rd party

This.  Nintendo lost 3rd party while PS3 didn't.

Sony was willing to take losses to save the PS3, Nintendo isnt.

By losing a lot of money

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

The PS3 didn't sell as poorly as the Wii U at its worst, the PS3 came out after its competition while the Wii U was before, and most importantly specs.

This should show it quite well

Sony pretty much threw away their money during the PS3 era. Microsoft is even more interesting.

yeah but sony and ms have bigger revenue in total. If i make 100$ revenue and113$ loses every year while you make 10$ revnue and 8$ loses who has more flexebility here?

Ummm... I have more flexibility.  Because I have 2 dollars.  You meanwhile owe someone 13 dollars, and eventurally they're going to want it back.

There are circumstances where it is worth taking a short term hit in profit for the sake of revenue, and debt is not always the worst thing in the world, but losing money does not make you more flexible or healthy as a company.

Did Sony turn the PS3 around after 2 years...?

Third party, second and first party combined. Nintendo only has two of those.  The PS3 caught up to the Xbox 360 by beating their last year of sales.
