I actually predict it will sell over a million in its lifetime. I think its the kinda fun casual game that uses the gamepad that will help it move units. I think it will really fly in japan. The real problem will be that there will be a ton of sales on the eshop and that will affect its overall sales numbers here. Same with Captain Toad. I know I bought my copy from the eshop so my sale isn't counted here. I bet the same thing happens with Kirby.

Fiddlesticks, I forgot about glorious Nippon.

They love Kirby, don't they?

Yup! and it has enough of that blend of cute main character along with fun and charming gameplay that should make it a hit there. Even Captain Toad is holding his own over there. If it rates high enough I'm sure that there are others who will be willing to take a shot at it. Especially at its price point.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a follow up to the game "Kirby: Canvas Curse" released in 2005 for the DS.

The sales of the game are pretty low. According to VGC it sold 0.72M WW.

The Wii U game is releasing on a much smaller install base than the DS.

Does the game even have a chance of selling well? It doesn't to be a game with a high development cost, but I doubt that it can even pass the 0.5M mark.

Thoughts?

500,000 for a game like that is considered a success. after the success of tomodachi life anything can happen lol

Bear in mind OP, that at the time Canvas Curse released, the DS had just launched the prior holiday season, and sales actually were pretty low until Brain Age and Nintendogs came around.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Game looks like a total joke to me. But then again i said that about Captain Toad and I cannot stop playing it

I can't see the average consumer today paying close to retail price for a 2D platformer not starring Mario, sadly.

You think rainbow curse is a platformer?

Bigger question is why will it take 6 months or more to localize the game for Europe

I don't wanna buy this, but I feel like its gonna be one of those hard to find titles if I don't...

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

The game itself will probably be pretty good, but I would consider this a niche title for a home console. 200-300k in sales would be my estimate. Would sell alot better and more suited for the 3ds.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Japan. They'll eat this game up. About half the time, Kirby actually sells more in Japan than America, so that's definitely something to look out for. Also, its price will help.

Kirby european sales are always terrible, maybe they want release it on a better date, february is not the best moment for this game, is more like a Xmas release, but oh well... little I know.
