Currently, Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers, the former Miss Marvel.

When I heard about this film I was so excited, then I heard it was Carol not Mar-Vell, I was insulted.

Yeah... I knew, just trying to be funny (badly). MU is the general term for the comics after all (or 616, you know the MCU has a number? 199999 apparently). It stands to reason that Dr Strange, Black Panther and Carol Danvers are not heard of in the films really. Why would they, by going off Ironman 1, who would have heard of Captain America?

Wow, there's gonna be a ton of new Marvel lore for me to catch up on when the movies release.

I hope they won't milk the franchise too much. Phase 3 looking good but if Phase 4 comes around and a character that only appeared in 2 pages of a low profile spiderman issue gets put to screen...
