Self-explanatory. Will the 3DS remake of Majora's Mask outsell the original 64 version?

Majora's Mask for the N64, according to VGchartz, sold a total of 3.36m units worldwide. For the sake of comparison, Ocarina of Time on the N64 sold 7.6m units (the most of any Zelda game) and Ocarina of Time 3D, which came out a few months after the 3DS launched, sold 3.56m. Although it is worth noting that OoT3D saw a pretty limited shelf life for a Nintendo game.

I personally think it will. The 3DS' install base is much larger now than it was in 2011 when OoT3D launched, and it's certainly higher than the N64's install base. It wil have a lot of hype behind it and Nintendo has said that the changes will be more substantial than any other Zelda remake, so that will give people more incentive to purchase it.

Edit: ALSO, as Hiku pointed out to me, the original game on the N64 required the expansion pack to even play it. The expansion pack, which cost $50 on its own, with almost no other games requiring it. So that means for most people that bought the game, they had to spend a total of $110 ($50 expansion + $60 game), which likely brought its sales down. Fast forward to 2015, and MM3D will not have such an issue. It will be just be $40. This should encourage more people who never got a chance to play the game due to its high price, to try it now. Especially since it's upgraded.

What do you think?

No, 1.5-2 million sounds reasonable tho.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I don't think it will. Its a bit too hardcore for many gamers I think...

Nahh! I don't think MM3d has as much broad appeal nor is as recognized as OoT.

Not a chance at all i'm afraid. MM will forever be in the shadow of OOT (sales wise) because it lacks accessibility. I dont think MM3d will come close to OOT 3D or the n64 MM, I do however think it has a shot of matching the 2.2m sales of ALBW though and what a huge kick in the teeth that would be for nintendo if remade versions of their 17 and 15 year old games were more sucessful than their most recent creation. It would really damage Miyamoto's/ Aonuma's ego as they're always banging on about innovation yet people prefer their ancient stuff, It would also show a real lack of progression or it could mean that OOT and MM are timeless classics.

A link between wordls has sold way muore than that, you can´t believe vgchartz numbers when Nintendo stated that they shipped 2.55 by March 2014.
Also, A link Between worlds is a game hard to sell because of its graphics and gameplay view; also it´s a direct sequel to a 1992 game.

The best game of all time definitely should.

Nah, I don't think so. 1-2.5m.

considering mm didn't do all that hot on n64 (admittedly, it came at the end), i don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility. but i think 3ds is reaching the zelda saturation point right about now (with this). that said, ocarina outsold it (tho a launch title) and i think a link between worlds will get there in 2016 if it does around the same it did in 2014 (easy for a portable zelda title of its pedigree) the next two years.
