Forums - Movies & TV - I find Marvel Phase 2 extremely dissapointing as a WHOLE

i AM sayin with shit like mandarin and hydra and being in a corner this is a situation where calling allies matters

geez i can understand smaller missions being solo but this was huge

i dont mean phase 1 movies not affceting them i am referring phaes 2 movie events not having an impact on each other

I can see what you mean, lets look at the stories a little. Ironman 3 happened over the period of a few days. Ironman saw it as his issue. SHIELD were probably investigating but Ironman stopped it before they could do anything.

Cap 2, yeah I agree in the thought of 'Where was Hawkeye?' but Ironman retired, Thor was in Asgard and Hulk is not reliable. It all happened over a 2 days practically.

Hmm, pie.

when having the connectedness fail in the comics isn't an excuse for them to fail in the movies
I AM NOT SAYING THOR MAKES AN APPEARANCE
I AM SAYING CAP - TONY - WIDOW - FURY they are all really relevant in each of the sitauation in iron man 3 and cap 2 yet they dont mix
makes 0 sense
aint even showing concern

Okay, more deeply. In Cap 2, Ironman wasn't Ironman. Widow and Fury were in it. And as far as everyone knew, SHIELD was fine until the last 20 minutes or so. Sure people were after Cap but they explained the reasons for that in film.

Thor 2, was spent most the time in Asgard, not Midgard. Can't just call your Avenger buddies then. What you should ask for this was where was Captain Britain, Black Knight, Spitfire, whoever is currently using Union Jack title, heck let's get obscure, where is Dark Angel? Lazy idiots are nowhere to be found, London is being destroyed and they are nowhere.

Ironman 3 though, is a little different, I presume SHIELD was investigating it all until it was just stopped by Tony before they could do anything.

Hmm, pie.

if you want a connected story go read the comics, these movies are one shots in which one of the heroes gets the spotlight

but its supposed to finish with Age of Ultron right.. we can't have 6 movies like that.. Nerds would die of all the jacking off if we had that many supermovies a year..

I enjoyed phase 2, especially GOTG and Cap 2. I do have a problem with the shared universe yet not seeing any of the other characters, or explanation why they aren't there. Not really a problem for GOTG, or Thor movies because they are dealing with galactic and inter-dimensional problems. It was more obvious in Cap 2 and Iron man 3.

Especially for Cap2, you think a call to Tony would have been one of Cap's first moves when he found out Hydra had infiltrated Shield. I am forced to come up with my own reasoning so I can better enjoy the film. I guess there was no real way to be sure if Tony himself wasn't part of Hydra, and there wasn't really enough time for Tony to see it on the news and fly to DC.  And where the fuck was Hawkeye in Cap 2???

Phase 3 will be good because Captain America movie will have Ironman in it.

my feelings exatly . thats all

It's because they are Super Heroes and not pussies who call for their friends every time something happens. They deal with it. End of.

...also there is that more realistic issue of how much money they have to pay Robert Downey Jr. to show up in a movie if they can get him at all.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Don't get me wrong I enjoy these alot though I find GOTG extremely overrated ( it does nothing exceptionally or great IMO , just good to okay generally , acting okay , bad villain , meh story telling , good graphics a bit funny nothing stand out except for the sound track IMO , just dont get the universal love and acclaim for it )

Yeah back to why phase 2 fails more for me as a whole

ITS NOT A CONNECTED UNIVERSE , we are back at phase 1 whats the point of connecting them all together if they dont interact eith each other during major events

Iron Man 3 - tony was dealing with a terrorist on US land , straight up Caps and Fury's alley , they didnt even cameo or get mentioned , he didnt bother calling the avngers

Thor Dark World - Perfect chnce to reunite the avengers IMO , another invasion from aliens , none showed or showed concern

NO mention of the events of the events of th films in the other films - that is the movie events don't affect each other

Cap 2 - tony would have been a great help in this movie , wasn't used or mentioned in the least

GOTG ; no mention or longing for earth , like star lord saying I heard there was an invasion recently

Okay discuss

Thor 2 and Ironman 3 both referenced the events of the Avengers directly.

Gotg was an origins story more or less. They would not have included them just yet in anything and why does he need a longing for earth? to be honest, do we even know what time frame they are in?

It expressly puts them in current time with the flashback to Starlord being a kid placed in 1988.

As far as all the contention on them not mentioning each other etc etc in their own movies.  IF they went that route, you would have the exact same thread in reverse.  Something like "I can't believe they have to lean on Caps name in order to get through an Iron man movie uuuuhhh"

That is true. It was the 80's. Well then it is just a galaxy far far away and happenings on Earth matter little for the time being.

Exactly.  And hell, that is the "most tied in" (in the sense of the OP) of the movies from phase 2 if you want to get technical since it has a heavy Thanos presence which was started in the post credits in Avengers.
