Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's the Most Overrated Game You've Played and Disliked?

See if you ask me, what is overrated is Skyrim hands down, but it isn't something I disliked.

GTAIV might be the one I think is highly overrated and I disliked, but from an objective view point, I can understand why overrated, hence why I picked Skyrim. It confuses me a bit why it was rated so highly.

Mine is, has been, and probably always will be, Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword. I've never had a game I wanted to like so much, and been so annoyed by the result.

Also, Final Fantasy 8, because it's just awful.

I'd also add FFX.  Ridiculous characters and writing; Tidus is shoehorned as the main character when that title clearly belongs to Yuna, not to mention he's a pitiful, self important, whining shit that is the definition of  "hateable charcter"; Rikku could have never existed and the story would be exactly the same.  It had abysmal dungeons (most notably that abomination with the tile nonsense).  It had decent music, great graphics and battle system but for fucks sake look at Seymour.  Look at him.  Sephiroth is bad but damn Seymour.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us.

I don't dislike these games at all, but I think the praise these games got were a little overblown.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I've heard mixed things about the game, but I've never actually played it myself. It sounds like a game I wouldn't really enjoy.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

GTA or Elder Scroll games are way too overrated, especially the recent ones but Watch Dogs takes the cake.

GTA IV

This and Bioshock

In my case, it's The Last of Us. I quit playing it the first time because it was very boring and repetitive. Then I picked it up again on PS4 and disliked it again, but thus time I forced myself to finish it. I wanted to give up on several occasions, but I endured...

The second vote would go to Halo, but it is an unfair comparison, because I don't like sci-fi FPS in general, while I reallg do like third-person games (both shooters and adventure games).

Mass Effect 1 and Red Dead Redemption were both massively flawed in my opinion. RDR is certainly not deserving of the praise it gets, and while ME1 isn't as praised as ME2 (for good reason), even the praise it does have is far too much (imo)

Wow RDR is one of my favorite games of all time... my favorite of last gen.  What did you find flawed about it?

I was better able to explain closer to the time I played it...honestly, the whole thing was fairly forgettable.

From what I remember, it was empty, environments were all too similar, the main story was predictable and fairly boring, the gunplay was unremarkable, dead eye made absolutely no sense and did nothing to help the game, all of the collection quests (collect herbs, skin animals etc) were really boring etc.

I'd say its strongest point was that some of the side characters were decently interesting. Otherwise, the gameplay was unremarkable at best and the main story was quite difficult to care about.

I agree with you on RDR, and am surprised many people like it. What killed it for me is about a dozen cattle driving missions, that dragged the ending unnecessary.

Oblivion will probably always be at the top of my list. Fuck that game.
