Forums - Politics Discussion - Gas is 1.89 in my area, what are the ripple effects of this era of cheap gas in America?

Last time I got gas it was down to 96 cents a liter (Canada) (was near 1.50 before)

That can't be good for the economy. Revenues from exporting the expensive to mine oil sands are down. The environment will suffer most as budget cuts will be made. Alternative energy solutions will also be put on hold as they are much less competitive now.

The Canadian dollar is down to 85 cents to the American dollar, a couple of years ago it was worth more. So for us it already means $70 games and a $50 price hike on the ps4.
It works both ways though. Export will be up (apart from our expensive oil obviously), especially in combination with cheaper transport costs.

This says it much better than I can

Bad for oil exporting countries/provinces, bad for the environment, good for everyone else.

canada and the us are fucked, they heavyly invested in oil, and the oilprice is down an will stay there for a while. but its not bad for clean energie, clean energie and oil arent competing so it doesnt matter.

I know my cousins company lost business from O&G companies but I forget what he does. My companies stock has tanked we were at 32-26 and we dropped all the way to 8 got back up to 12 last I checked.

On another forum that was discussing this someone said it was actually encouraging people to spend more money how true that is I don't know never bothered to verify. He said it helped boost the economy.

Russia gets angry. Nuke fly.
There, these are your ramifications.
Enjoy your cheap gasoline.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

2.29 where I am.

It's down to 2.20-2.80 where i'm at right now which is surprisingly low seeing as we're used to the mid three dollar ranges. This has been going on for about a week already which is pretty fast as we only have those prices for about a day, but I never put much importance to it until now.
