Is it really worth getting worked up about?

I wasn't aware i was worked up :p I'm simply a member of the "i like a source for statements that seem like bullshit" club. We meet on Tuesdays, unless it's raining.

Ain't no one got time for wet cloths

After viewing the videos: The 720p resolution is really unattractive when looking at distant objects and even though I personally like some of the visual effects I can see aliasing big time even at 720p. Screen tearing is classically caused when frame is produced before another is finished and can be fixed with simple vsyncing but the issue is exacerbated at higher resolutions (because you are requesting more pixels at the same framerate). As a tech head, I would love to see how they go about tackling these issues over the next 11 months.

Does anyone have uncompressed video files I can look at?

Early impressions of the beta have been very positive. The single player game is what I want to see.

Stopped reading at "It's a missed opportunity to go all out - to press the reset button not just on the rendering tech, but on the core gameplay". I'm done with DF.

well they dont lie for the fanboys, halos gamelay is meh at best imo. It's also too slow, too simple map design, a meh story with meh characters imo. nothing special...imo   change we need... imo.

Fixed. You need to understand that what you like and or don't like, doesn't reflect fact... only opinion. I haven't played the beta, but I have played Halo for years. I've also played tons of COD and other FPS as well and find that Halo is anything BUT "meh".

Poor Halo and it's baby resolution

i think Halo 5 will flop, MS needs new IPs.

Thats what they say about every halo game ever. It will succeed. And let's ignore sunset overdrive and quantum break which are 2 interesting new ip's coming soon or have already arrived.

well this time its different, this time its not made by bungie and the install base is much smaller on the X1. I think it will sell 2 million units and get mediocore reviews

Why?? Halo 4 wasn't made by bungie and got a 87 on meta critic. Halo 4 was bashed for its multi-player not  the single player. Halo 5 already has a much better multi-player. Let's make a bet. Halo 5 will definitely sell more than 2 million units within the first month and will get a meta critic above 89

It will flop and sell 2-3 million units, because

- people allready bought destiny on the x1 and ps4

- people got disapointed by destiny

- people got disapointed by the Halo masterchief collection because of its multiplayer

- the halo masterchief collection sold only 1.5 million units  at launch despite being the total wet dream of every halo fans (multiplayer issues werent known yet).

- most xbox 360  owners switched to the ps4

- they released a multiplayer beta that only runs at 720p more dispointement

QFT, especially the bolded. Bungie is going to do a horrible job with Halo 5.

No I do not have proof that people can't tell the difference but there has been so many instances proving me right such as: Ryse, KZSF, Watch Dogs, AC Unity. Have you noticed that when gameplay videos are showed everything is all good, then as soon as the devs  say the resolution or DF does their analysis, that is when all the outcry begins. Proves  very few notice until they are told.

It's certainly true that people are less likely to notice a difference in online videos, but that has little to do with the resolutions themselves. Not only are such videos heavily compressed, but on sites like YouTube both 900p and 1080p are scaled under the same 8mbps "1080p" setting. I know i find it difficult to tell the difference between the two on YT, despite it being pretty clear to me when playing games on my PC. There's a reason PC gamers tend to optimize their settings around 1080p (if possible) ^^ We don't throw such a huge amount of resources at it (vs 720p/900p) for the lolz.

Naturally, this means the first time we get a "proper" confirmation of a games resolution prior to playing it ourselves is from the developer or DF. People would look pretty silly if they started using compressed online videos as a basis to start a stink lol.
