Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Digital Foundry vs Halo 5 beta

Well Halo never really a graphic king as far as i know so if they choosing 720p at 60 fps is more understandable, I am still doubt the graphic will improve much for 11 month i think they will just focus on preparing the online infrastructure seeing how the MCC disaster on lunch day, i guess they will not bothered with graphic at all and focusing on replay value and online aspect more then graphic, so my conclusion it's to early to judge but don't expect some improvement on graphic aspect.

Halo 4 is among, if not the best looking title on the 360. Halo 5 isn't likely to achieve such a position on the X1 (not while targeting a locked 60fps), but it will definitely see significant graphical improvements by launch. At the very least the resolution will be upped a lot; they wouldn't settle on 720p, there's too large a stigma surrounding it. I'm of the opinion that the difference between it an 1080p is pretty huge, but the stigma seems to make people equate it to 240p vs 1080p :p They'd be best avoiding a shitstorm like that with their lead system seller.

I am expecting the same resolution for multiplayer and  900p 60 fps for single player, with moderate improvement on shader etc, or 1080p 30 fps with slightly improvement for the single player campaign. Other then that it's impossible for 11 month especially 343 is more concern about the online aspect then the graphic, they will focusing their asset to make sure MCC disaster will not happen again, and 11 month is not enough for focusing graphic and multiplayer aspect at the same time.

I really can't see them letting any of it being 720p. They've put a lot of work into improving how people perceive the X1 (in regards to power). Letting that slip with Halo 5 of all things would be really dumb. I'll happily take a bet on it though You can pop my bet making cherry.

900p/60fps seems like a safe bet for the SP though. It could be higher, but assuming they also want to introduce some graphical improvements, it seems like the most likely progression from where the beta is. That or 1328x1080 (what Halo 2: Ani was), but that's pretty much the same as 900p.

Stopped reading at "It's a missed opportunity to go all out - to press the reset button not just on the rendering tech, but on the core gameplay". I'm done with DF.

well they dont lie for the fanboys, halos gamelay is meh at best imo. It's also too slow, too simple map design, a meh story with meh characters imo. nothing special...imo   change we need... imo.

Fixed. You need to understand that what you like and or don't like, doesn't reflect fact... only opinion. I haven't played the beta, but I have played Halo for years. I've also played tons of COD and other FPS as well and find that Halo is anything BUT "meh".

the story could be written for a bay film, would have been a nice UT mod but as the story behind a m$ big gun? blant, unispired pulpscifi. its okay if you like it, but its no masterpiece. same goes for the gameplay, it brings nothing new to the table and does best in genre, it works fine, but its just nothing special. well the music is cool.

It would be hilarious if they used the same technique as in KZ.

i think Halo 5 will flop, MS needs new IPs.

Thats what they say about every halo game ever. It will succeed. And let's ignore sunset overdrive and quantum break which are 2 interesting new ip's coming soon or have already arrived.

well this time its different, this time its not made by bungie and the install base is much smaller on the X1. I think it will sell 2 million units and get mediocore reviews

Want to make a bet? One month's sig control and the loser has to put "curl/ruler was right and I was wrong about Halo 5 selling 2 million lifetime" in thir sig for that time. You game?

:) your sig says i shouldnt bet with you

I realize this is a beta, but seriously 720p 30 FPS?! I have never, ever seen a beta stray that far from the finished product.

The gameplay is not 30fps. The fact that you cherry picked the fps of an animation from the 3 second cinematic in a beta shows an agenda.
