Forums - Sales Discussion - Where are console sales baselines going to settle in 2015?

Which consoles will see the biggest increase year-over-year?

PS4 67 63.21%

WiiU 22 20.75%

XB1 15 14.15%

None, they'll all decrease. 2 1.89%

Total:106

2015 is shaping up to be quite a year. Coming off what some consider a disappointing year all around, we're supposed to start seeing a lot of interesting releases over the next 362 days. Something I think we all welcome.

Still, I think a lot of us are wondering how things are going to shake out now that the first full year has passed for each console. With the holidays come and gone, consoles will start dropping back down to the "normal" levels that we'll be seeing most weeks. The thing I'm wondering is where exactly they'll end up.

Looking back at last year, we see the PS4 mostly sticking in the 130-150k range. The XB1, meanwhile, spent most of the year in the 50-60k range, with a brief drop down into the 40k range before its price was cut. The WiiU had perhaps the most dramatic shift over the year, starting in th 30-40k range before popping up into the 50s with Mario Kart and settling into the 40-50k range for most of the rest of the year.

So, where do you think they'll end up this year? What do you think can, has, or will push the console baselines up or down this year? Price Cuts? Amiibo? Or will the much-anticipated games of 2015 push sales to new heights?

PS4: 180k-210k
XB1: 75k-105k
WiU: 30k-45k

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

PS4: 150k - 200k
Xbox One: 60k - 80k
Wii U: 30k - 40k

You should be more spécificité, like that :

First semester consoles baseline :

PS4 around 200k
X1 around 80k ( without a new price cut )
Wii U around 30-40k( without price cut )

Its impossible to predict thé second semester baseline for now

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Hardly impossible. It involves quite a few factors, but it involves basically the same level of guesswork.

I chose the ps4. It has a lot going for it to boost sales this year versus 14 which didn't have much of anything.

Biggest increase? Xbone.

A lot of the negative stigma if garnered for the last year and a bit has almost all gone. So there is no reason people will avoid it like the plague.

I don't know why some people think X1's baseline will be DOWN on last year. Kinect is gone so it's generally a lot cheaper, it has a good bank of exclusives and it's out in more markets. I'm gonna say:

PS4 90k
X1 50-55k
Wii U 35-40k

PS4 150k
XB1 65k
Wii u 35k

Ps4: 120K
Wii U: 65K
Xbox One: 60K

I'm placing the Wii U baseline before the Xbox One baseline by the fact that before the holidays the Wii U was outselling the Xbox one.
