Can you play all recent games released at 1080P/60fps with everything on ultra? If yes, how much money did you spend on your rig?

EDIT

Actually, the R9 270 is a 2.37 TFOPs (31%+ more than PS4) card that can be had for 100 - even further reducing the cost.  Mobo combo for 100.  100 for case, ram, and HDD.  You're at 300.  Even if you added an OS like windows 7 and kb/mouse, you can come in under budget of 400.

You cannot compare console TFOPs with PC GPU TFOPs LOl

seriously i even have Nvidia 880M GTX with far more TFOPs then PS4, but the actual performance is the same (even some game more and the other perform less). With less TFOPs console will able to preform 2- 3 times then what their actual theoretical specs.

Only on old games......like Age of Empires 2, but after an hour or 2 my laptop gets hot.

Sims 2 I forgot what settings I used. In SImcity everything is medium (shadows , animations ect) , but textures and geometry is set for high at 60fps.
Still gets hot but that's okay.

I spent about £1,000 on the computer (excluding screens), maybe a little less, around 2 years ago.

Up until the latest batch of releases, it could run everything 1080p Ultra. Far Cry 3 was previously the only game to force me down to 30fps. But Dragon Age has now put me a long way off ultra....

1080p/medium at 60fps for me. Older games on high

is that so? and why arent all games 1080/60 on ps4? shouldnt be a problem if the consoles perform 2-3 times better than the specs say...

Depends on the game.  Unfortunately, there are few PC games that get poorly ported to console.  It's usually the other way around.

And I was more or less suggesting the extra power on the card I mentioned would help cover the gap in terms of optimization.  Worst case scenario my first example has a card that is over 4TF I believe, but I'm a bit out of the game.

I'm simply suggesting, WITH DEAL HUNTING, you can build a PC that runs games (barring poor ports like GTA4, etc.) at the same graphical integirty as that of a console, for about the same price.

WITH DEAL HUNTING.  Again, the problem is that when you buy a console you are 1 and done.  With PC, you have to piece it together and you have to treat each purchase as a deal hunt.

Not anymore, but 3 years ago when I built my PC I could. I just had to avoid more than 2 x AA. The rig cost me around $1500 to build at the time and still runs all games at 1080p/60fps. I just have to turn the settings down nowadays. It's mostly due to my measly 1GB VRAM.

Well, since PC aren't console, both work differently, is like comparing car like Golf GT (console ) and Ferrari (PC), both are car but using different route to get to their destination, Ferrari need to get a further way circling around while golf GT just using a small street and a shortcut to reach the destination. That's how the comparison work. The are using different coding, different graphic UI, different configuration etc.

That's really a silly question.  Most games have a few "Overkill" settings there for those who have Uber rigs or for those who play the game a few years from now.  They really aren't neccessary to get 95% of the graphics quality most of the time.

I will just say this:  To play modern games in 1080p at 60 FPS with High-Ultra settings an $800 or $1000 rig would be fine.

That price tag is the reason consoles still sell so well. A lot of people need to save up just to buy a 300-400 console.

But for half the price of his PC you can play games at high/ultra 30 fps 1080p. All you need is a $230 r9 280x and you can Max almost any game 1080p  and a solid 30fps. Since the general rule is to spend half the cost of your rig on your GPU that would be about a $550 PC if planned well. In comparison consoles play at medium settings and less than 1080p30fps most of the time. For console level hardware you only need to spend $450.
